As soon as Clark finished speaking, he heard the sound of car arriving from outside.
"It must be none other than Charles!" Clark was not in the least afraid. He thought that with Nancy around, Charles would not do anything untoward to them.
But Fannie's next words made Clark and Jill both tremble with fear at the same time.
Anxiously, Fannie said, "Dad, mom, look, it's the police car, and there's not just one. There are several police cars coming."
As soon as she uttered her words, several policemen came in towards them.
They took out their IDs and informed them who they were looking for. "May we know who Jill is? Which one is Fannie?"
"Sir, we are good law-abiding people and we have never done anything wrong to break the law!" Jill was so scared that she didn't notice she was shouting, her voice trembling.
"It's true, sir. We are good law-abiding people. Why brought you here to us?" Fannie' asked, her legs were so weak that standing alone was difficult for her.
"Sir, it must have been Charles who asked you to come here. He is my son-in-law and I'm his family. There must be a misunderstanding. Please sit down and let's talk it over!" Clark remarked as he tried to flatter the policemen with a big smile.
But the police took no notice of him as they ignored him and began to take Jill and Fannie away.
"Clark, you can't watch us suffer inside the police station. You'd better find Nancy. Ask her to save us and find a way to help us!" Jill shouted in horror, panic squeezing her.
"Oh, I can't even get out by myself. How would I be able save you?" Clark anxiously retorted.
"Dad, just go and beg her!" Fannie also cried out in frustration.
"I... Alas!" Clark muttered, "If you were aware of the consequences, why did you still have to do that?"
"You just go to her. As long as you are willing to beg her for forgiveness, Nancy will definitely save us, Dad!" Fannie shrieked loudly.
In fact, Clark thought that it wouldn't be bad for Jill and Fannie to stay in the police station for a couple of days. He could take the opportunity to have a good rest by himself at home.
As for saving the mother and daughter pair, he had no choice but to save them, but he would not do it immediately.
That day, Charles was very busy with work.
After a few consecutive meetings, everything had been addressed. He poured himself a glass of wine and stood in front of the French window while emotionlessly looking at the passers-by on the strip in the distance. After taking a sip of wine, he turned around and put down his goblet.
He opened the file again, but his mind was drifting and he couldn't understand a word of it.
He could not get his mind off of the scene on how Bobby forcefully told him.
Just get married! Just get married!
Since the children were pressuring him, and he also wanted to do it anyway, he made up his mind without consulting his mother's permission!
He would just go ahead and get married to Nancy!
Having made up his mind, Charles immediately drew up a marriage statement to announce his decision.
After he had finished, he asked his assistant to come in.
Viola came in and asked respectfully, "Mr. Fu, what can I do for you?"
"Well, send this marriage statement to all the major media, and then prepare the invitation card for me. Send it to all the elites and partners from all walks of life!" Charles then gave the marriage announcement he drew up to his assistant.
Viola was a little stunned. Apparently, she didn't expect that Charles would be so abrupt in announcing his marriage.
"Is something the matter?" Charles inquired.
"Nothing, sir. I'll do it right away." Viola respectfully took the marriage statement from Charles and quietly left the room.
While walking out of the CEO's office, Viola took a deep breath. If it weren't for the statement in her hand, she still wouldn't believe that her boss was going to get married.
It was definitely going to be a big event for the business circle of the whole city!
Back in the office, Charles was leaning against the back of the seat. He lit a cigarette nonchalantly and took a drag slowly.
He knew that as soon as the statement of his marriage had been released, it would signify that the war between him and his mother would officially begin.
Charles took a few more puffs and stood up. He grabbed his suit and walked out of the office.
Tonight, he needed to be with the children and his woman. If they were not by his side, he wouldn't be able to live peacefully.
Charles returned to the villa to fetch clothes for Nancy and toys for the children. Afterwards, he drove straight to Edward's villa.
In fact, he knew very well that Edward must have prepared these things for Nancy and the children, knowing how considerate he was.
