Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love novel Chapter 99

In her worry that her mother would fall sick from anger, Nancy hastened to calm her.

"Yes, grandma." Nadia looked at them with doleful eyes. She didn't want her grandma or mommy sad.

But she was much too young. She didn't know how to console adults whose emotions seemed far more complicated than what her young heart could understand.

She could only reach out her small hands to stroke her grandma's and then her mom's faces.

At the child's touch, Jade sighed and closed her eyes slowly.

Nancy and Nadia couldn't leave that night. Nancy placed Nadia on a bed to get her settled down. Then she found herself a chair and sat down, watching over her mother's sleeping form.

"Miss Ning, please sleep. I will take care of her," the nurse said with a tremor in her voice.

Nancy grabbed her hand and forced out a smile. "It's alright. You can go to sleep. I'll stay here."

"Thank you very much, ma'am." The nurse was embarrassed from her kindness and left quietly.

In the silence of the room, Nancy assured herself that her mother just had a fright. 'She would be alright,' she told herself.

As she fought to keep her anxiety in check, a hand suddenly shot out and grabbed hers.

A heavy gasp resounded in the ward.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Nancy fled to the switch and turned on the light, and then hurried to her mother's side to grab her hand.

Jade's face had lost color and her hands felt clammy to the touch.

"Help! Help!" Nancy shouted.

Her mind raced as she struggled to make sense of her tangled thoughts. 'What was wrong? Why is she choking on her own breath? Was there something stuck in her throat?' Nancy ran a shaking hand over her back repeatedly in an attempt to soothe her.

Jade lowered her head.

"Mom...¹' Her voice cracked, begging for her mother to be alright.

The next moment, the door opened to reveal the doctors.

At once, they checked on the old woman. Nancy's mind was filled with worry for her mother that she had momentarily forgotten her daughter.

Nadia was as pale as death. 'Grandma is very sick. What should I do?' Her young mind struggled under the weight of anxiousness.

She saw a nurse passing by in the corridor and stepped in front of her way. "Auntie, can I use your phone?" she asked.

"Of course, my dear. Do you need to call someone?" The nurse crouched down and looked at Nadia's round, pleading eyes.

”1 want to call Charles Fu," Nadia said, her face serious.

"Ah." The nurse thought that she had misheard at first, but the little looked at her with a steady gaze. "Honey, you can't just call Charles. Besides, I don't even know his phone number..."

"It's okay. I know it." Stretching out her hand, Nadia continued, "Can you please give me your phone?"

The nurse stared at her, convinced that Nadia was making things up, but decided to humor her.

She nodded and handed the girl her phone. "Alright," she said.

To her surprise, Nadia took the phone and dialed a number.

"Daddy." Her small voice wavered as she spoke.

Just then, Charles had come back from the Zhuang family.

He had lunch at the family home at noon and had intended to come back early, but Dorothy held a small party at home with her classmates to celebrate her return.

Drew thwarted Charles' plans this way and made him stay.

He went around from one guest to another, introducing Charles so familiarly as if he was going to be his son-in-law.

At some point, some of Dorothy's classmates even teased him to give her a kiss. She feigned embarrassment but looked up at him with expectant eyes.
