The Omega Mated To The Four novel Chapter 196

I sat in the dim light of our makeshift sleeping area as the last embers of night surrendered to the gentle glow of dawn. Elijah lay before us, finally succumbing to exhaustionhis battered, unconscious form cradled carefully by Alex and Austin, the twins whose faces were filled with worry and exhaustion.

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him. Every bruise, every cut, every shard of pain etched onto his skin was a silent testament to what he had endured. His right eye was now swathed in a thick bandage, the skin around it was discolored and swollen into a grotesque shade of purple. Even his arm, was twisted at an odd, unnatural angle, bore evidence of injuries that Isaiah later claimed looked as if it had been broken by being crashed. The sight of him like thisso fragile, so brokenhad my heart clenching with a mixture of sorrow and a bittersweet relief that he was still here.

I shifted my gaze from Elijah to the others.

Isaiah, was cleaning up the things we had used and arranging a few stolen sleeping bagsyes, I knew he had borrowedthose from the supply depot, still sporting their price tags as a silent admission of his cunning resourcefulness.

I broke the silence, my voice trembling as I asked, Is he going to be okay?

Isaiah paused, his eyes meeting mine with a calm certainty that belied the chaos of the past few hours. He’s tougher than most,he said, his tone steady as he recalled a memory that seemed to momentarily lift the weight of the present. I remember when we went mountain climbing. We both fell and He broke his arm and I twisted my ankle, that didn’t stop him from carrying me he just gritted his teeth and kept on.He smiled softly at the recollection.

Elijah has always been badass.Austin said he played in last years quarter finals even when he twisted his knee and we still won.

Yeah the dude is an iron tank.Alex chuckled.

I managed a weak smile in return, but the shadow of worry lingered. What about the silver? Your said they were injecting him with it.It’sslowing his healing, isn’t it?

Isaiah nodded slowly. Yes, the silver in his blood is interferes with his natural recovery. But the good news is that in about a day, it should start leaving his system. Once that happens, his healing will kick in properly again. He’s endured worse, Stormi. He’ll pull through.

Before I could respond, Alex’s voice cut sharply through the stillness. Well we can’t just wait here,he declared, the edge in his tone leaving no room for debate. We had to leave him here so we could focus on finding the Lunar Keystone. That’s what matters- our mission.

I felt a surge of anger and hurt mingled into a tidal wave of conflicting emotions. No,I said firmly, not wanting to let his words undo the fragile hope that had taken root in my heart. We’re not leaving him behind. He may have betrayed us in the past, but he’s still one of usand he’s our responsibility right now. We can’t abandon him when he’s this hurt.

Alex’s eyes flashed with contempt. He betrayed us, Stormi. That’s not something we can just forgive and forget. His words stung, and I knew they were as much a reflection of his pain as they were of his anger.

Isaiah stepped between us, his expression stern yet patient. We still have the map, don’t we?he said, challenging Alex. Alex was right we had to find the lunar keystone but that didn’t mean we had to leave him alone in this state.

Austin, who had been quietly watching from the edge of the firelight finally spoke up in a low, measured tone. Alex is right, Isaiah you know as well as I do that the world’s future is at stake. We did more than enough by risking our lives to save him. It wasn’t just a favorhe’s one of us. But we can’t let this get in the way of the bigger picture.

I knew the stakes were highour quest for the Lunar Keystone was crucial. But it wasn’t just about the mission. It was about the people we cared for, the lives we’d risked.

I raised my hand, silencing the brewing arguments. Enough,I said softly but firmly. We are not leaving until he’s on the mend. We’ll wait for the silver to clear from his system. When his healing kicks in, we’ll get him to somewhere safe, and then we’ll return to the uncharted realm.

A heavy silence fell over the room. I could see that none of them wanted to say more. Isaiah got into his sleeping bag. I knew how he felt he and Elijah have always been close and since the beginning he has the only one who has been giving him a benefit if a doubt.

I, however, couldn’t bring myself to sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Elijahso vulnerable, so haunted by the agony of his injuries. I couldn’t let the silence of the night rob me of the chance to be there for him, to watch over him as he fought through the darkness. Quietly, I slipped out of my sleeping bag and made my way over to where Elijah lay, halfhidden beneath a soft blanket that did little to cover his broken form, a twisted reminder of the violence he’d endured. I knelt beside him, my heart aching with every shallow breath he took.
