Chapter 23 

Sheila’s brows raised as she dared him to refuse. As Alpha Nick looked at her, she was so different from the woman who had stayed the night waiting for him to return.

This feisty woman caught his interest somehow. Charlotte was already shedding tears, and Goldie had a smile on her face. Beta Gustav was shocked to see that Sheila was not as pitiful as he thought. Charlotte was the pitiful

one.

She might be Alpha Nick’s mate, but Sheila made her look like the mistress. Beatrice was burning with rage but could do nothing. Everything lay on Alpha Nick at the moment.

“Sheila has it come to this?” His expression was unreadable, and no one could guess what he was thinking. Charlotte didn’t want Sheila to win, so in her pitiful stance, she reminded him,

“My kidnappers used a cab: I’ve been scared of cabs since then, Please take me home.” 

She leaned against his strong chest, allowing her fake tears to soak his shirt. Strangely, Alpha Nick pulled away. He was helpless and was flung with the discomfort he always felt with Charlotte close to him ever since her

return.

He tried to nurture the love he had for her but strangely got repulsed by something he couldn’t put a finger on. After enduring it for a while, he couldn’t do so anymore.

Pain flashed through Charlotte’s eyes, but she hid it well. With all these people around, she couldn’t let Sheila win. When Alpha Nick unlocked his phone, he was surprised to see her missed calls.

“You called?”

Charlotte was happy to be redeemed in front of the same people. “Yes, I was worried when you left with her, and I thought something terrible had happened when you didn’t answer my calls,” her voice was so teary, Alpha Nick felt guilty.

“Sorry, I didn’t see the caller ID. You know I can never ignore your call.” He always reserved his soft side for her, indicating the love he felt for her for as long as there was a gap between them.

Since Charlotte was standing beside Alpha Nick, he didn’t see the tongue she wagged at Sheila, giving her the victory warning.

“Nick, shouldn’t we leave already?” She tugged on his sleeve, but this time, Alpha Nick didn’t pull away. They were going to be mated soon, so he had to find a way to fight the repulsion he felt with her closeness.

When Alpha Nick was about to leave, Sheila blocked the car door and leaned against it. If this was the last thing she was going to do before the divorce, she was certain to succeed at it.

“Sheila…” Alpha Nick spoke in a helpless tone. Sheila smiled, hiding the pain. She didn’t mean anything to him, but neither did she deserve this embarrassment. Alpha Nick started it, so how could he make her feel like the mistress? “Since she took the decision for you, I hope you don’t stop me again.”

Alpha Nick’s brows furrowed, and no one could tell if he was upset or confused until Sheila moved away from the car and held beta Gustav’s hand.

His heart jumped with life, and he tightened his hold around her. Seeing Sheila looking so sexy in a way he never saw her, her hand intertwined with that of another man, Alpha Nick was boiling with rage.

“What do you think you are doing?” Anger and discomfort laced his tone. Sheila casually responded,

“You take her home, he takes me home. It’s just fair that I should equally enjoy the freedom you are enjoying,

right?”

Sheila’s smile was so flawless that no one could see the pain hidden underneath it. Gustav was already walking to his car when Alpha Nick blocked their path. Without a word, he swiped through his phone until he reached.

Beta Dustin’s number.

If not for the fact that she didn’t want to use Charlotte’s infidelity to have Alpha Nick to herself, she would have exposed the latter, but love should develop naturally. Since she never got it after all the time spent in the packhouse, it was useless to her now.

“I have no idea. Please, check me into a hotel for tonight,” Charlotte quickly said. She already felt as if the air around her was limited, and she was finding it hard to breathe. Sheila smiled internally, wondering what Alpha Nick would do when he found out about Charlotte’s rotten ways.
