Sheridan withdrew her hand as if his hold burned her. Her expression was stern. She had lived with him
under the same roof for six months, yet she had never even entered his room. Not once did he even
pretend to like her, and now he wanted to go back to being what? His wife?
“I think you are drunk. You should go home,” Sheridan said, finding everything so ridiculous. The thing
about her was, the moment the divorce was finalized, she knew there was no turning back.
She turned to leave, but Alpha Nick was quick to grab her by the arm, his lips smashing onto hers. When she saw the video of what happened, she thought it was because they had both been drugged, as Alpha Nick had never shown her affection before.
Sheridan’s eyes widened with shock as she tried to break free, but Alpha Nick only deepened the kiss, his tongue forcefully exploring her mouth, his arms tightly wrapped around her waist and not willing to let go. Not until a strong slap jolted him back to reality.
His cheeks burned from the hot slap Sheridan had just given him as she wiped her lips with the back of hér hand, feeling embarrassed and ashamed.
“Look at me very well. I am not Charlotte.” Her voice was teary as so many emotions blended together. The fact that she had been caught up in a one–sided love for so long. “I would not have you disrespect
me in my own pack.”
Alpha Nick was offended by her remark, as his thoughts were far from what she was thinking. He sounded sincere. “I’m not disrespecting you, Sheila. I love you, but I was just blinded by the bond.”
Sheridan knew that no one could fight the bond, but Charlotte? Everyone could see how manipulative she was except Alpha Nick. “Blinded? She rejected you, she?” Sheridan asked, feeling that
didn’t nothing would make Alpha Nick turn his back on Charlotte unless she indeed rejected him.
Alpha Nick’s gaze darkened as he recalled the state in which he saw Charlotte and Tom at the gala awards night. “No. But I know everything going on between her and Tom,” Alpha Nick revealed, unable to hide it anymore. “You knew it too but hid it from me,” he accused her.
Sheridan let out a bitter smile, feeling like the replacement bride she was. Alpha Nick would only come

“So that is why you came. You are using me to while away time until you find your second chance mate.”
Pain rested on Alpha Nick’s face from her words. How could she even think like that? “No. If you give me
another chance, it would be only you,” he said sincerely, his gaze unwavering. Sheridan had already put everything behind her, not intending to make a U–turn.
Her only focus at the moment was her pack and her business, nothing more. “We are already divorced,
and I don’t go back to my vomit.”
Alpha Nick felt she was right. It was too soon to remarry her. But before then, he just needed the opportunity to prove to her how much he needed her.
“You don’t need to marry me, but I see the fire of vengeance in your eyes. Come back to the pack and
let’s get revenge on the people who destroyed us.”
Sheridan shook her head as she took a step back, recalling the promise she made to her father. “I destroyed myself when I decided to pursue you despite knowing I wasn’t your mate. I was infatuated with you when you saved me back then in the woods.”
Alpha Nick recalled years ago when he saved an injured girl in the woods. “It was you? Sherry?” The name had never even rang a bell throughout his hearing it at the gala awards. Strangely, he never saw
her again.
Now he felt guiltier. Sheridan never took advantage of him like he thought. She was just madly in love
and didn’t know how to show it.
“Yes. I stalked you for years, and just when I almost gave up, I saw you stranded on your wedding day when I was trying to escape from some assassins.” She left out the part about Charlotte sending them. “We were never meant to be, and I hope you find your second chance mate.”
She felt a slashing pain in her heart at her own words, but it was for the best. She would never go
