Harmony POV.
“Harmony, don’t forget we will be at the clubhouse when you finish work.” I stop walking out of the door and look at my momma, Rebel.
“I know, momma, I will be there. Gotta run, love you.” I wave at her as I walk out of the door with my purse crossed over my chest as I walk to my car with my laptop and files.
It has been fun growing up in the MC, especially with a family like mine. Harry and I are legacy children. We are both part of the biggest and most feared family in the country. I am twenty and Harry is twenty-five.
We are part of the Moretti-Jacksons. My momma is the heir to the DeNucci family, my dads yes you heard that right, I have more than one. One is Dante Fanucci, and he is a mafia Don and owns numerous businesses. Then you have my other dad who is Dylan Scythe Steele, who is the acting president of the Prince Of Darkness MC.
My nanna is Angel Moretti. She is the child of Antonio and Teagan Moretti. Then you have my pop-pop Ryder Savage Jackson, who was the president of the Princes Of Darkness when he retired and handed the title to his son RJ. But RJ decided it wasn’t the life for him and he handed the position to his second in command. My dad Dylan. Uncle RJ was off travelling the world with his fiancée, Carmen. But they are both in Mexico helping with the Cartel businesses.
So Harry, my older brother, will be president. There has to be a member of the bloodline from pop-pop that is at the head of the table. And me, well, I went to school, kept my head down and decided to skip college.
I have my own business, and I have other plans in mind. I’m by no means spoiled. I have always been independent and I will keep it that way.
When I decided I would combine my passion, I had to run it by my parents and then the entire family. Dad wanted to pay for the building, but I told him I wanted to do it by myself. Even my great uncles Nate and Nico tried to convince me to let the family help. But I stayed firm.
I love my family, and I know I can count on them if I need them, but there are things I need to figure out on my own. They weren’t happy. So I compromised. The brothers from the MC helped get my little coffee book shop interior done to how I wanted it all to look.
Then once everything was ready, my momma, dad’s and Harry came in to have a look. They checked everything and I mean everything down to the last nail. Then the rest of the family came in and checked everything over. Apparently, the princess of the family can’t work in a dangerous environment. I didn’t argue. It would have been an argument I wouldn’t have won.
After many, and I mean many, thorough inspections, they all deemed it safe, and I was allowed to open. I still chuckle as I remember them all arriving in hard hats carrying clipboards. Even nonno and nonna came, god I miss them.
The great Antonio and Teagan Moretti passed away two years ago, side by side, holding hands. It cut the family deep and we still feel the loss. They died peacefully, and we were all there for their final moments.
The family has remained strong, and it’s amazing because I know our family hasn’t had it easy with the dynamics. But I know our little family has been just fine.
I pull up on Main Street in our town and get out of the car and walk towards the front door of my haven. Books and Brews. I open the door and the little bell chimes and the smell of coffee hits me. People are already inside reading and drinking tea and coffee. I smile at this.
I grab my usual table and put my things down and walk behind the counter and make a start on my coffee.
“Hey Harm, how are you today?” I look at Janette and smile at her.
“Good, you know, busy little bee. Did the new books arrive? And don’t forget we have the mommy, daddy and me sessions today.” I say to her and she nods her head.
“Yeah, everything is set up for them. The new books have been put out.” She says and I smile.
When I opened the coffee book shop, I wanted to do something for everyone in town. So I came up with story times for the kids and their parents. We host it three times a week. We also do themed events to give to various children’s and Domestic Violence charities.
We host them twice a month. Next week’s one is a Princess and Pirates theme. The proceeds will be split between the children’s hospital and the shelter.
