AMBER cried as soon as Rafael left her in the room, she quickly took a seat as her legs got weak from their confrontation. She’s angry at herself. Five million in exchange for their baby’s life, she’s no different from those mothers who abandoned their child. But she’s way worse than them, her baby is still not born yet what has she done?
“I am so sorry, baby. There’s no truth on what I’ve said.” She said in between her sob as she caresses her stomach. “I only said those for both of us, you know what I’ve been going through, right?” She added. “Don’t worry, this will be the first and last time I hurt you, it will never happen again. I will love and take care of you. I’ll take good care of myself so that you will be born healthy. I’ll protect you at all cost.”
“Forgive mommy, okay? Your grandfather has a huge debt and I only need two months left to pay for it. This is the only solution that I could think of for both of us.” She said as she continued to caress her stomach. “I love you, baby. It doesn’t matter even if you’re just an outcome of a mistake.”
Amber noticed the sudden cold treatment she received from Rafael when she mentioned that needs money in exchange of their marriage. She didn’t want to drag their unborn child but she was desperate. She sighed and went to the bathroom to wash her face. She doesn’t want Rafael to know that she’s crying; even if it hurts, she must be stern on her decision.
“I thought you will bring me home?” Amber asked Rafael with curiosity. “This is not the way to my apartment.”
“I know.” Rafael said, eyes on the road. “Whether I like it or not, you will stay at my house. I don’t trust you to be alone after knowing what kind of person you are!” He said without even looking at her but she can feel his angriness through his words.
Of course, Amber. What should you expect? You’re the one who made him think that way.
“And I went to your apartment, it is not safe for you and the baby.” Rafael added that makes her heart warm. He really does care for his heir.
“But my things… I need to get those.” She said.
“There’s no need, I already asked your friend to get your things for you.” Rafael said, unbothered.
Friend? Maybe he’s referring to Kaylee.
“Can we still please go to my apartment.” She said loud enough for him to hear. “Please?” She pleaded. She was shocked when Rafael suddenly stepped on the brake.
“What the hell do you need to get there? Didn’t I already told you that I already asked someone to get your things?” Rafael said, staring at her with a frown on his face. Amber was dumbfounded not because he is irritated but it is due to his looks. He might be irritated but that didn’t deny that he is good looking.
His eyes were dark-brown, framed by graceful brows. He had prominent cheekbones and a well-defined chin and nose. And those soft, sharp lips were very attractive and captivating, Amber can still remember the feeling of his lips kissing her and her body. She suddenly blushes on the thought.
“Are you done eye-raping me?” Rafael asked as his lips twitched.
“You wish!” She said and looked outside the window to hide her embarrassment.
“You’re so tempting when you blush, honey.” Rafael said and pulled her closer to capture her lips.
Her mind is telling her to push him away but her body didn’t obey; she slowly opened her mouth to welcome him and she wrapped her hands onto his neck.
“I want to ravish you right now, but let’s save it for later.” Rafael whispered. It was a long, passionate kiss that even her wants more. She wants him to kiss her, to touch her like the way he did during that hot night.
“Wait for me here, I will be back.” Amber said to Rafael as soon as he parked his car outside her apartment, but it seems that Rafael didn’t hear a thing, he stepped out his car. Amber sighed and grab the keys of her apartment in her bag; she was about to open the car door but Rafael opened it for her.
Hmmn… A gentleman, eh?
“Thank you.” She said. She didn’t wait for him and she went straight to her apartment.
She’s staying at a rundown apartment complex, it is way far from the life she’s used to, but she’s very grateful to her mother for teaching her household chores and how to live life being contented on what they have no matter how small it is.
The room she’s staying is at the first floor, every time she opens her door, she can’t help not to remember her old room. Her old room is more spacious than the room she’s staying now. She’s just thankful that the complex is clean. Her room is almost empty, no cooking utensils or such, what she only has is a pillow and a blanket. She doesn’t even have a foam. She opened the wooden cabinet and her clothes are gone, even her shoes.
“How can you leave in such a place?” Rafael asked frowning.
“I don’t know. I just accepted it.” She said.
“What is that big box for?” He asked.
“Memento.” She simply answered as she put her remaining things on the box.
It’s good that she managed to persuade Rafael, because knowing Kaylee, she will only get her clothes and shoes.
Rafael carried the box without saying anything and went out, making her smile. She’s grateful that he is there to carry the box because she doesn’t know how to carry it especially now that she’s pregnant.
She went out of the room and saw Rafael talking to someone on the phone while leaning on his car, but his gaze is still focused on her. She suddenly remembered what he said when they were on the car making her blush.
