An elderly woman stepped out, eyeing them warily.

"We're here to see the family living here," Dominick said politely, nodding slightly.

The elderly woman frowned, "Who are you, and why are you looking for Paisley and her daughter?"

Realizing she knew Paisley's name, Dominick softened his tone even further. "I'm her husband, and this is our son."

The woman's eyes narrowed sharply. "Husband? Don't give me that nonsense! Paisley doesn't have a husband! Don't try to fool me!"

Dominick felt a pang in his chest but explained calmly, "I'm her ex-husband. This child is indeed ours. I'm not lying. Do you know where Paisley is?"

'Could she still not have returned?' he wondered.

Last night, he had tried every possible way to contact Paisley but failed. When he went to the police station, she had already left.

He assumed she was still upset, so he decided to give her the night to cool down before coming to see her today. But as expected, he was met with a closed door once again.

After knocking for a long time, Dominick couldn't get Paisley to come out, but he did manage to get the old neighbor lady to answer the door.

He didn't want to admit he was Paisley's ex-husband, and he resented Paisley in his heart for telling the neighbors everything, even their personal matters like their marriage and divorce.

Upon hearing Dominick's explanation, the old lady felt disgusted. "Oh! You're the one Maria talked about, the scumbag ex-husband of Paisy?"

Dominick was shocked. "I'm not a scumbag, I—"

"Still denying it?" The old lady interrupted him harshly.

"One is a worthless ex-husband who can't get rid of his childhood sweetheart, and the other is a thankless son who prefers others over his own mother! And you still say you're not a scumbag? You two are both scum!"

Dominick's face darkened. He didn't have the time or patience to listen to a woman scold him. After all, he was the CEO of a large company, and his expression was still quite intimidating.

The old lady shrank back but knew he wouldn't do anything to her. She puffed out her chest and said, "You and your son can stop waiting, Paisy moved out. She left yesterday!"

"She moved out?" Dominick's heart skipped a beat. "Where did she move to?"

"How would I know?" The old lady stared at him. "She just doesn't want to see you guys, so she moved out. You should have some self-awareness. Stop knocking, it's so annoying!"

After saying that, the old lady slammed the door shut. She was really annoyed with Dominick and his son. If it wasn't for them, Maria wouldn't have moved out with Paisy, and she would have had someone to go grocery shopping with this morning.

Grayson was startled by the loud door slam. He tugged at Dominick's hand, "Dad, will we never see Mom again?"

He started crying. He couldn't accept being abandoned by Paisley again.

Dominick pressed his thin lips together and stared at the tightly shut door, silent. Only his reddened eyes betrayed his sadness.
