Meanwhile, the Sullivan family wasn't faring much better.
Ever since they were kicked out of the hospital during their last visit to see Paul, they hadn't been able to contact Dominick or his assistant.
Brittany had repeatedly called Julian, who initially brushed her off with excuses about being busy. Eventually, he stopped answering her calls altogether.
The Sullivan family's contract with the Vanderbilt family was nearing its renewal deadline, and the next quarter's agreement had yet to be signed.
In previous years, the Vanderbilt Group's project manager would proactively reach out to finalize the contracts. But this time, there had been no word. When Gregory tried reaching out, he was met with vague replies, saying they were waiting for instructions from above.
And "instructions from above" could only mean Dominick. It wasn't just the Sullivan family facing setbacks. Brittany was dealing with her own problems.
First, the male and female lead actors, as well as other supporting cast members, abruptly quit her drama project, causing production to grind to a halt.
As the lead actress, Brittany became the target of ridicule online. To prove herself, she urgently needed the drama to resume production. But at this critical juncture, she couldn't reach Julian, let alone Dominick.
"What's going on? Weren't they so friendly before? Why aren't they answering the phone now?" Christina asked anxiously.
On one hand, the family business was at stake, and on the other, her daughter's budding celebrity career was on the line. Both of these relied heavily on Dominick!
"Did we do something to upset Mr. Vanderbilt?" Christina asked.
"I didn't do anything! I haven't even met Mr. Vanderbilt in person. All I've ever done is communicate through his assistant," Brittany said, feeling wronged.
Everyone kept saying Dominick had a thing for her, but she hadn't even seen him face-to-face. She only ever dealt with his assistant, and now even the assistant was giving her the cold shoulder.
When she finally became Dominick's woman, she'd make sure that assistant paid for his attitude.
