Claire stopped in front of Dominick, blocking his path. 

“Mr. Vanderbilt, it’s late,” she said, her tone gentle. ‘Sonny mentioned you haven’t been feeling well lately. I made this calming soup myself. Please drink it and get some rest.” 

Dominick, barely holding back his irritation, replied curtly, I’m leaving for a business trip. I don’t have time.” 

Claire was startled. “A trip? At this hour? You can’t disregard your health like this!”

Julian gave Claire a sidelong glance, his expression disdainful, before quickly following Dominick. 

Claire was left standing in the hallway, tray in hand, utterly perplexed. Wasn’t Dominick supposed to be nice to Sonny’s family tutor? Why was he so rude to her? 

Meanwhile, at Paisley’s house, she stepped out of the bathroom to find Serena already sound asleep. 

Maria approached her with a warm cup of milk. “Thanks to Max Rena was so happy today.” 

Paisley nodded and sipped her milk. “I saw him earlier when I came back and thanked him already.” 

Maria suddenly pulled Paisley down onto the couch, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Paisy, be honest with me–are you really planning to stay single forever?” 

“Why are you asking me this all of a sudden?” Paisley replied, taking Maria’s question as casual chatter. 

“I just think you should consider finding someone.” 

“I’m not planning on it for now.” 

“Come on, give it a thought. You’re still so young. You can’t stay single forever. Don’t you ever miss having a man in your life! 

Maria’s bluntness caught Paisley off guard, causing her to choke on her milk. “Maria! You’re starting to sound like Emery!” They both thought Paisley should have a man in her life. 

Maria raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong with that? Emery’s right you know. You can’t live your whole life without a man by your side. 

Look, Paisley said, shaking her head with a wry smile, “if the right person comes along, then sure. But for now, I’m just aking things as they come.
