Dominick listened to his parents‘ conversation, his gaze unintentionally falling on Serena. Seeing her wrapped in the nanny’s coat, still looking cold, a pang of pain tugged at his heart. 

Should he arrange for a better room for Serena as well? As he thought this, his legs carried him toward her without him realizing. 

Lauren saw this and was about to stop him. Then she remembered the words from the police and the others who had vouched for the nanny, so she closed her mouth and said nothing. 

Considering the nanny’s dedication to saving Sonny, she decided to let Dominick help Serena 

“Maria, I’m feeling a bit sleepy. Serena felt her eyelids getting heavy and wanted to sleep. 

Maria was worried that Serena might catch a cold if she fell asleep there, so she gently bounced her legs to keep her awake. “Rena, be good, don’t sleep yet. Once the doctor checks you out, we’ll go home, okay?” 

The intern doctor overheard this and quickly said, “Yes, I’ll check on you soon. If everything’s fine, you can go home.” 

Serena nodded, fighting off sleep and trying to keep her eyes wide open. Suddenly, everything went black in front of her, and when she looked up, she came face–to–face with the frowning Dominick 

Serena jumped in fright, the sleepiness almost entirely vanishing. She leaned back against Maria, clutching her arm tightly. She really didn’t like Dominick. He was always so harsh every time he saw her mom. 

Dominick noticed Serena’s aversion to him and his eyes darkened slightly. “Do you need me to arrange a room for you?” 

Maria wasn’t about to accept any help from Dominick. “No need. We’ll- 

Just then, Paisley called. Maria, holding Serena, couldn’t hold the phone to her ear, so she put it on speaker. 

“Maria, how are you and Rena?” Paisley’s voice was trembling and choked with emotion, filling the area. 

Dominick frowned again, feeling a tight knot in his chest. She was crying. She must have been scared. 

‘It’s okay, Paisley. I’m here. Nothing will happen to them, Dominick thought. 

“We’re fine, we’re fine, don’t worry,” Maria quickly reassured Paisley, sensing her distress and wanting to calm her down so she wouldn’t worry herself into harm. 

At that moment, the sound of a car horn blared from the phone. Maria was startled. “Paisy, are you driving?” 

Dominick was also anxious, his heart racing. This was madness, How could she drive in this state? What if something happened? 

“Pai—” Dominick was about to tell Paisley not to worry, that he was here to help. But before he could speak, a man’s voice came through the phone. 

“Maria, don’t worry. She’s with me. I’m the one driving. We’ll be at the hospital soon. You don’t need to worry” 

When Maria heard Max’s voice, she immediately relaxed, and a smile appeared on her face. “Oh, Max, if you’re with Paisy, I can relax. Take your time, no rush. Rena and I are fine. 

“Alright.” Max’s voice was calm and reassuring, “Rena, talk to your mom. She’s really worried about you.” 

Serena heard Max call her and immediately responded obediently, “Mommy, Rena’s waiting for you.”
