Chapter 24.4.
Christina’s face tightened. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
“Alright, enough!” Diana frowned, feeling utterly exasperated. This gathering had been completely ruined by Christina and Brittany. “Since Paisley isn’t going to deal with this, I won’t either.”
“Yeah, same here,” Lauren agreed with Diana for once,
With the two central figures of the gathering refusing to get involved, the other ladies naturally chose not to either.
The two officers present were also at their wit’s end, and it became clear to them that Brittany wasn’t as innocent as her mother claimed. Her personality itself seemed problematic.
“So, what’s your decision?” one of the officers asked Donna and Daisy.
As the victims, their wishes took precedence. “Of course we’re pressing charges. Officer, we’re going all the way with this Donna said firmly.
Daisy nodded emphatically, despite her slurred speech. “And I want a medical examination!”
“Alright, in that case, both parties need to come to the station with us. The officers wasted no time and told both sides to head to the police station.
Brittany panicked completely. She grabbed Christina’s hand. “Mom, I’m not going! I’m not going!” She knew that if the matter couldn’t be resolved, the Levines would definitely ruin her.
Christina panicked too, holding onto Brittany and shaking her head at the officers. “We’re not going. We didn’t commit any crime! We’re not going!”
“You beat someone up like that, and you think you can just walk away?” One of the officers lost patience and grabbed Brittany’s wrist. “Come with us quietly, or we’ll have to use force.”
Donna and Daisy apologized to Diana, Lauren, and the others, then nodded at Paisley before walking out first. With the victims gone, the officers each took one of Brittany’s arms and started dragging her out as she struggled. “No! Let me go! Mom! Mom! Help me!”
Brittany’s hysterical screams broke Christina’s heart. “Brittany, don’t be scared. I will save you! I’ll save you!” Watching Brittany get taken away by the officers, Christina’s eyes turned red with rage. She glared at Paisley. “You ingrate, just you wait!”
After leaving that threat, Christina hurriedly ran after them.
Finally, peace returned. In the grand hall, sighs filled the air from the ladies present. Some of the young women even forgot about the setting and hugged their mothers on the spot.
“Diana, just call me by my name,” Paisley said politely with a smile. After all, she hadn’t even agreed to take Nathaniel as a student yet, so technically, there was still a generational gap between her and Diana.
