'Just a few months left?' The tiny spark of hope that had lit up in Reginald's eyes dimmed at the thought.

Jonathan stared at Paul's sallow face on the hospital bed. After a moment's hesitation, he finally made up his mind. "If Mr. Hansen can't get his mentor to come, I might know someone else. Another practitioner of the Ancient Medical Arts."

"For real?" Reginald's eyes lit up instantly.

Dominick and the rest of the Vanderbilts turned to Jonathan, waiting for him to continue.

Everyone knew that given how close Jonathan was to Paul, if this mystery healer was easy to reach, he would've mentioned them right from the start.

Sure enough, Jonathan's expression grew troubled. "Thing is, she's incredibly hard to get hold of. I've asked her to join our hospital a bunch of times, but she's shot me down every single time."

Jonathan didn't add that if it weren't for a chance encounter years ago, this young prodigy probably wouldn't even remember who he was.

Reginald nodded grimly. He knew it wouldn't be that simple.

"But don't worry," Jonathan assured them. "I'll do everything in my power to help Paul."

Right now, everyone's hopes were riding on Charles' phone call—the one that seemed to be going on forever.

Finally, the call ended. Charles let out a long breath and wiped the sweat from his forehead before heading back into the hospital room. His face had already shifted back to its usual stern expression.

Charles met the hopeful eyes of the Vanderbilt family and spoke carefully, "My mentor says she's willing to come take a look. Whether she'll treat him, or if it's even possible, will depend on what she finds."

It wasn't a yes, but it wasn't a no, either. For now, anything was possible.
