Chapter 783
Isaac locked eyes with her, momentarily speechless, before he finally found the words. “Daniel spoke to me in confidence that he didn’t want you to be involved.”
Brittany squinted her eyes. She’d always seen Daniel as a child, but this was a clear demonstration of his cunning.
“But you shouldn’t have kept it from me.”
Brittany felt like she’d been running in circles.
Isaac feit guilty and feared that she would break up with him over this, so he stepped forward, “I’m sorry, I promised him and I’ve already dealt with Joie.”
Brittany knew Isaac wouldn’t let Joie off easily. But because of Joie’s connection to Grace, Isaac wouldn’t confront her openly.
This realization nearly gave Brittany an ulcer.
“You may have dealt with her, but I haven’t.”
Isaac’s lips were a tight line. “What do you plan to do?”
As long as she wasn’t outrageous, he wouldn’t stop her.
Brittany studied Isaac carefully, as if trying to gauge his attitude toward Joie. When she found no trace of it, she released Isaac’s hand. “Whatever I decide to do is my business. You better not interfere.”
Isaac recoiled at her attitude, subconsciously gripping her hand, “You can do whatever you want. Just don’t be mad at me, and don’t leave me.”
Brittany sensed his fear and frowned. “I didn’t say I was leaving you.”
She remembered an article she had read about the ‘abandoned cat syndrome.’ Isaac was like an abandoned cat, living in fear that she would leave him.
Having received her affirmation, Isaac wrapped his arms around her waist, afraid she would change her mind. “Promise me you won’t leave me.”
He had already suffered enough sleepless nights in the past five years. He didn’t want to be away from Brittany, not even for a second.
Brittany felt a twinge of sadness and wrapped her arms around his waist. “I don’t want to leave you.” She paused for a moment, then added, “Don’t hide anything from me in the future. Especially about Daniel.”
Isaac’s heart fluttered as he kissed her. His hand slipped under her shirt, taking liberties.
Brittany responded enthusiastically. She had missed him just as much.
Their passion ignited.
The entire suite was filled with a strong desire. The clouds outside covered the moon, revealing only a sliver of its light, casting a silvery glow on the bedroom floor.
Brittany had travelled a long way to be here, and Isaac had canceled his business meetings to stay with her. They spent the whole morning in the hotel bed.
They had reached a preliminary agreement on their collaboration. Nathan could handle the rest.
When Brittany woke up, her body was sore.
The man beside her was massaging her waist. Seeing her awake, Isaac kissed her lips. “Do you still feel uncomfortable?”
Brittany endured the ache and moved her body slightly. “What time is it?”
“It’s almost one o’clock. I’ve ordered some room service. I’ll go get it.”
Isaac carried her to the bathroom and placed her in the bathtub, “You soak first. I’ll go check on our son.”
“Okay.”
Brittany’s body was indeed exhausted.
