Brittany caught the playful undertone in Isaac’s voice. “My dad’s decision has undoubtedly ruffled some feathers in the Lynette family. I’m worried…”
She feared retribution from other members of the Lynette's family.
Isaac didn’t share her concern. “You’re a Lynette, Brittany. Your return has shaken up the status quo, stepped on some toes. Even if they wouldn’t do anything about it, you can bet they’re thinking about it.”
Brittany rubbed her temples. “I just want to go back to Imperial City.”
“Seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for that.” Isaac had a hunch they weren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Brittany felt the same.
“Have you made up with Mr. Lynette?” Isaac remembered she’d been calling Yuri 'Dad' all this time.
Brittany hesitated for a fraction of a second. “He’s been really good to me.”
From Yuri, she’d felt the paternal love she’d craved for so long. It was more than she could resist.
Isaac nodded in understanding. “Bri, you’re his flesh and blood. In the whole wide world, there are few as close as you two. Mr. Lynette’s had a hard time these past years; spend some time with him.”
After Grace’s passing, Isaac’s perspective on many things had shifted.
As the old saying goes, ‘make hay while the sun shines.’
Brittany wrapped her arms around his neck, and they shared a tender, milk-flavored kiss. Isaac carried her back to the bedroom, gently laying her down.
He hovered over her, and Brittany let out a soft cry, willingly embracing the moment.
...
After a night of passion that nearly left her spent, Brittany slept in until past eleven. She woke to find a little bundle of warmth, Daniel, snuggled against her, cheek nuzzling into her chest.
“Mommy.”
With no pressing matters that day, Brittany considered it and agreed. “Alright, I’ll take you out to play.”
After a family breakfast, they took Daniel to the nearby children's park.
Daniel, brimming with energy, reigned supreme in the playground, while Brittany, camera in hand, captured the fleeting moments. Beside her stood Isaac, looking every bit the guardian deity.
Meanwhile, just beyond the children's park, a royal motorcade pulled to a stop.
The head of the entourage opened the door, and Ivy stepped out, her presence refreshingly vibrant, turning heads.
With a radiant smile, Ivy followed the entourage leader into the park.
The children’s park, funded by the government for public welfare, was celebrating its annual anniversary. As a royal patron and the face of the festivities, Ivy made her attendance a tradition.
This year, her arrival was even greater in strength and impetus.
