The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) novel Chapter 955

Meanwhile, Jonathan found himself in an unexpected confrontation with Leila.

“Mr. Metzger,” she greeted, her voice holding a weight that demanded respect.

Jonathan, ever the gentleman, nodded in acknowledgment.

“I'm here to ask you to let my daughter go,” she began, her words slicing through the silence like a sharp knife.

Jonathan's face drained of color. “Madam…”

“Saskia is my pride and joy. I've raised her since she was a babe in arms. She's not getting any younger; she can't afford to wait.” Leila had not expected Jonathan to be so ineffectual. After all this time, he hadn't managed to make the Metzgers come around.

“You cannot give Saskia the life she deserves anymore.” A flicker of contempt crossed Leila’s eyes. “Can your month's pay even buy her a dress?”

Jonathan felt a flush of embarrassment scalding his cheeks. “Does Saskia think so too?”

“Saskia has been pining for you these days, but you can't give her the happiness she seeks.” Leila's heart ached for her daughter. “Mr. Metzger, if you truly care for Saskia, you'll let her go.”

Jonathan remained silent, his heart heavy.

After Leila left, Jonathan, in an unprecedented move, decided to take a day off and arranged a meeting with Saskia at the place where they first laid eyes on each other.

When Saskia arrived, her eyes were rimmed red, her cheek bearing the mark of a slap.

“Saskia, what happened?” Jonathan's concern was palpable as he saw the evidence of violence on her delicate skin.

Saskia quickly covered her face, her voice choked with sobs. “It's nothing, I just bumped into something.”

Lies.

Jonathan cradled her face gently, his heart breaking. “Did Leila do this to you?”

Saskia broke down, tears cascading down her cheeks uncontrollably. “Jonathan, I truly care for you, but I can’t defy my mother. I owe her everything; she adopted me.”

“Mom, if you don't agree, then I have no choice but to cut ties with the Metzger family!”

Mrs. Metzger scoffed. “You mean to be struck from the family records?”

Jonathan lowered his gaze, torn between his love for Saskia and his family. “Yes.”

The sound of a slap echoed.

“Jonathan, have you lost your mind?” Mrs. Metzger could never have imagined that her son, for whom she had endured months of labor, would turn out to be such a fool for love. Clenching her teeth, she was resolute. “For a woman, you'd forsake your parents, even be struck from the family records?”

Jonathan endured the slap. “Either you agree to my marriage with Saskia, or I’ll have my name removed…”

He couldn’t finish his sentence.

Mrs. Metzger was unyielding. “Someone see to it that Jonathan is removed from our records. Let him leave!”
