Clarissa, who was supposed to be taking extra care during the first few months of her pregnancy, suddenly sat up straight, eyes locked onto her phone screen.

Her fingers trembled as she let go of the injection syringe in her hand.

The man in the video is Zion? He’s the heir of the Lockhart Group? No, this is impossible. Isn’t he Zion? The same street punk who had been protecting Kelly?

Standing up abruptly, Clarissa raised her hand and bit the pad of her finger in frustration.

“Wait …” Clarissa had just been about to step out when a thought suddenly struck her.

Zev is a traitor to Lucas. Right now, his official identity is that of an orphan–a nobody, a street punk. So, Zev is actually an undercover agent sent by the military to infiltrate Lucas‘ organization.

“Hahaha.” Clarissa laughed.

What a stroke of luck. I’ve been racking my brain for a way to get rid of him, and here it was, served on a silver platter. I can use Lucas to finish Zev off once and for all.

Even though Lucas had escaped and couldn’t re–enter the country, he still had plenty of mercenaries stationed in Seaville. Wally was just one of them. All she had to do was tip Lucas off about Zev’s true identity, and Lucas would stop at nothing to eliminate him.

After all, Zev was the sole heir of the prestigious Lockharts in Seaville. Killing Zev was similar to extorting a significant sum of money from the elderly man.

A slow, satisfied smile curled at Clarissa’s lips as she stepped out of the room.

Zev stepped out of Kelly’s old home, walking through the narrow alleyway. He took a few steps before slowing down, tugging the brim of his cap lower over his eyes.

Wow, so fast! I only met with Ken yesterday, and today, someone is already tailing me.

Sensing movement behind him, he picked up his pace, heading straight for the alley’s dead end. The men following him exchanged glances, then silently drew their knives, ready to strike.

“Found him!”

Oscar stood waiting at the end of the alley, flanked by several police officers.

The pursuers froze, immediately turning on their heels and disappearing into the shadows.

Zev glanced sideways, his lips curling into a cold smirk. “The wiring in the demolition zone is old. If it’s exposed to an open flame, it could trigger an explosion. But the thing is, if a fire starts inside a house and causes the wiring to explode, the external main switch should trip automatically unless someone tampered with it from the outside.”

Oscar gave a firm nod. “I looked into it. The year before Kelly left for the peacekeeping force, this entire area underwent a major circuit change. While the internal wiring in the houses remained outdated, the external circuits were completely rewired. In the event of an electrical explosion, the main breaker outside should have tripped. It has a built–in leakage protection system.”

Zev pointed toward the few remaining buildings that hadn’t been demolished. “Every single one of these buildings has an electrical safety mechanism–except for Kelly’s parents‘ house, where it was deliberately removed. I also noticed traces of an old surveillance camera mounted outside that building. Most of the residents have already moved away, but if we can track them down, we might still be able to access the footage. Maybe…” His voice trailed off. He knew the chances were slim. Most surveillance systems had looped storage, meaning that any footage from three years ago had likely been overwritten long ago.

Oscar let out a sigh. “Unless the owner routinely backed up the recordings, it’ll be tough to find anything. But even so, this is a solid lead. If we can prove that the circuit’s safety device was intentionally removed, we can officially reopen the case and launch a full investigation into Kelly’s parents‘ deaths.”

A flicker of excitement crossed Oscar’s face. It had been three years, but finally… there was hope.

Kelly’s parents hadn’t simply died in an accident or suspected self–destruction. Their deaths were not accidental but man–made!

“If Kelly hears about this, she’ll be happy,” Oscar said, patting Zev on the shoulder.

Zev turned, glancing toward the corner where the pursuers had vanished. Then, he let out a quiet, bitter chuckle.

I just want to do as much as I can for Kelly while I still have the time.
