Chapter 164
Allison just walked in, just in time to hear Ashley’s words. She asked Instinctively, “What weird stuff is going on?”
Payton answered, “Her sis works in a mental hospital, dealing with all sorts of patients is part of her job; isn’t that stuff interesting?”
“Yeah, it’d be worrying if nothing strange was happening”
Ashley took a sip of water, then mysteriously said, “Here’s the kicker, it’s a mental hospital, but recently a non–mental patient moved in. They even booked the entire top floor, with four or five beefcakes guarding the entrance; only specific doctors can go in, it’s really mysterious.”
Hearing this, Allison’s water glass suddenly stopped mid–air.
What a coincidence, huh?
She tried to stay calm and asked. “Ashley, where does your sister work?”
“At Mercy Grove Hospital, a small private mental hospital. I tried to convince her to change jobs, but she said the workload there is light and the benefits are not too shabby”
Allison understood.
Ashley’s sister actually worked at Mercy Grove Hospital.
And the mysterious patient on the sixth floor was her mother, Grace.
She walked over and sat at the round table, discussing the matter with everyone, “Is it really that mysterious? Has your sister seen this person?”
“My sister is just a regular nurse, the sixth floor is locked, and she can’t see the person. But my sister heard from the cleaning staff that it’s a female patient. It’s all very mysterious”
Everyone started discussing other matters, and Allison sat quietly listening, wondering how she could rescue her mother. Her mother’s health was deteriorating; any rash action could be dangerous, and she didn’t know how things were going with Adrian.
She listened as the girls shifted from talking about makeup to jewelry, then to the big families in Northfield and some family gossip, even mentioning Lucian’s name with occasional squeals.
She stood up and checked her watch, “I’ve gotta head out.”
“My sister always wants me to go to the hospital during the day to help take care of the kids, you guys know, most of the kids at Mercy Grove Hospital have issues. And they don’t pay much; I’d rather stay home and sleep.”
Allison was just at the door when she suddenly stopped. She turned around and asked. “Ashley, what did you just say? Is Mercy Grove Hospital hiring?”
“Yeah.”
“I’d like to go there.”
To Allison’s surprise, the opportunity came quicker than she thought.
“You want to go?” Ashley’s eyes widened in surprise, “Allison, it’s a mental hospital!”
Allison smiled, “Earning a bit more is always good. I’ve been looking for a day job. I was just worried it might clash with my night job.”
Ashley didn’t suspect anything and gave Allison her sister Adeline’s number, “This is her number, you can contact her directly.”
“Thanks, Ashley.”
The next day, Allison immediately contacted Adeline.
