Chapter 17
Allison was taken aback, and her blushing and rapid heartbeat stopped abruptly at that moment. She lifted her head, her moist eyes. filled with confusion, “Purpose?”
Lucian let go of her wrist, fiddled with his sleeves that were not messed up at all, and said solemnly, “Intentionally splashing water on me, purposely getting close to my cousin, and now using this face that looks like Penelope to attend my class, don’t tell me all of this is just a coincidence.”
Allison finally understood. He thought she was purposefully trying to catch his attention.
Her heart, which was originally uneasy, suddenly calmed down at this moment. She bit her lip, feeling wronged all of a sudden.
For the first time, she hated her own face.
She held back her emotions and said, “Mr. Lindberg, whether you believe it or not, I had no intention of getting close to you!
“If you’re here because of the question I answered in class, I apologize, but this… I’m sorry, you got the wrong person.”
She said respectfully, “If there’s nothing else, Mr. Lindberg, I’ll be leaving.”
Without waiting for Lucian to speak, she turned and left.
Lucian stared at her retreating figure, his frown deepening.
Did he really misunderstand her?
Then he made a phone call, “I want all information on Allison.”
When Allison received another call from Lucian, she was watching a movie with Daisy.
“Dinner tonight?” A clear, cool voice came from the phone.
Allison immediately felt a headache coming.
To be precise, the person he asked was “Penelope, and she was just a stand–in. If she could avoid contact with him, she would definitely choose not to.
Especially since they had had an unpleasant exchange in the office that afternoon.
“Sorry, I’m watching a movie with a friend right now; I’ll treat you some other time.”
There was silence on the other end for a moment, followed by a “fine“, and Allison finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Daisy glanced at her, “Who was that?”
“Just a friend.”
“So secretive, is it a boyfriend?”
Daisy raised her eyebrows at her. Allison chuckled and put her phone back in her purse, sighing a bit helplessly, “Don’t you know whether I have a boyfriend or not? Alright, let’s watch the movie.”
Despite saying that, after the call, Allison had no idea what the film was about.
