Chapter 48
“Ah-”
A cold instrument touched her body, triggering immense pain.
Allison’s face turned as pale as a sheel, her pupils trembling.
Her child…
She had just found out she was pregnant and was about to lose the baby
The intense physical pain combined with the heartache made Allison faint….
Allison was holding a bloody baby in her dream. Its cries almost piercing her heart.
In a blink of an eye, the baby disappeared, replaced by a cold–faced Lucian Stumbling towards him, Allison wept and begged, “Please please save our baby.”
But the man remained indifferent, finally pushing her away harshly, one hand around her throat, “You’re not worthy of bearing my child!”
She froze in fear, watching helplessly as the man walked away with Penelope, leaving only one sentence behind, “That child deserved to die!”
“No!”
Allison bolted awake, her body drenched in cold sweat.
She tried to move her body, but the doctor said, “You’re awake; you’ve slept here for a day. There’s nothing serious, but you’ve lost quite a bit of blood After a fluid transfusion, you’ll be fine. Eat food that can replenish your blood when you get home.”
Sitting up, Allison placed a hand on her lower abdomen, the baby was gone, and her heart felt empty.
Seeing this, the doctor comforted her, “Miss, you’re still young. You’ll have children in the future.”
With a bitter smile, Allison shook her head.
She leaned against the bed, feeling weak. After the transfusion, she barely managed to walk out of the clinic on shaky legs.
Walking alone on the bustling street, she felt dizzy and sat down on a bench.
Entertainment news was playing on an LED screen at the nearby intersection.
“Lindberg Corporation heir, the mysterious Lucian, booked the luxurious Sunset Hotel in Northfield, inviting many guests to celebrate the birthday of his fiancee, the heiress of the Flanagan family..”
Allison stood up.
She walked forward in a daze, trying to get closer to the screen to see more clearly.
Unconsciously, she ended up in the middle of the road. Amidst the blinding white lights, Lucian’s words before his trip to England echoed in Allison’s
mind
He said, “Penelope, I’ll surprise you when I return” Was this the surprise he had prepared for Penelope?
A laugh escaped from Allison’s lips. The LED screen had moved on to other ads, but Allison’s smile deepened, her eyes growing dimmer.
