Allison was taken aback.
Her pupils shimmered under the glow of the flames.
"Lucian, my name is Allison."
Lucian seemed a bit lost. "Allison."
"Yes, Allison."
Lucian muttered something inaudible. He was really sick, his mind fuzzy.
Seeing him weakly move his lips, Allison leaned in.
"What did you say?"
"Allison, where are you?"
Allison's expression slightly changed.
Looking at the unconscious and sickly Lucian, she realized he still remembered her name.
"I'm here," she whispered, knowing he wouldn't hear her.
Outside the cave, the rain started to fall.
She didn't want to think about what could've happened without this cave. Allison was anxious. She used all the medicine she had. However, Lucian's condition had not improved due to snake venom, and she was in a coma.
She checked her phone: no signal. They were deep in the forest.
What were she and Lucian to do? When would help arrive?
Jason and the others returned to the hotel.
They immediately asked, "Has Allison returned?"
The staff shook their head. "I haven't seen Ms Zimmer."
The people who came by yacht all tried to comfort her.
But Penelope was not only worried about Lucian's safety but also about Lucian being with Allison. If something happened to Allison in the jungle, that would be great. Allison can't meet Lucian.
The two had been missing for five hours.
The rescue team finally arrived. Due to the heavy rain, boats were inoperable, and helicopters couldn't fly. Carl looked at the rescuers as if they were his family. "You're finally here. If we delay any longer, it'll really be dangerous."
The team leader frowned and quickly surveyed the terrain.
"It's raining now, and it's dark. The situation is complex. Do you have a map of the deeper parts of the jungle?"
Carl handed over the map again. "I've only been once. I only have a remote monitoring map, not a detailed one. The island is huge. We use it to farm pearls, so there hasn't been much development inside. Mr Lindberg and Allison's phones are unreachable. I suspect they're deep on the island. There are all kinds of wild animals, so be careful."
"Okay, got it." The team leader looked at the dark forest, his brow furrowed. The mission was challenging, but they had to proceed. He directed, "Teams of three move quickly through the forest. Bring flares and medicine. Follow me."
"Yes!"
