For next week's family feast, Penelope was supposed to wear this necklace, and she was sweating bullets about getting caught by others. So, she went to Allison's former pad, only to find it deserted with almost all belongings gone.
Just in time, Margo found out about Allison's current crib.
"Ms. Flanagan, Allison's shacked up at the Blue Mountain Estate now."
"Blue Mountain Estate?" After a quick Google, Penelope found out it was a mid-range apartment complex. She couldn't believe Allison could afford such a place.
Margo chimed in, "Maybe Mr. Brummett's helping her out. She's got him wrapped around her finger, and she's trying to do the same with Mr. Lindberg. She's playing Mr. Brummett while stirring up trouble between you and Mr. Lindberg."
Pursing her lips, Penelope called for Linda.
Two minutes later, in the bedroom.
With her head bowed, Linda muttered, "Ms. Flanagan, I don't know squat."
"In the Flanagan family, you and Allison are thick as thieves. I haven't even asked yet, and you're claiming ignorance? Did you ever hear Allison mention anything about the necklace?"
"The necklace." Linda mused, "Nope."
"Are you sure? Think hard, Linda." Seeing Linda's puzzled face, Penelope handed her a pen and a stack of paper from her purse, "Really sure you've never heard of it?"
"Well, I might have seen an agate necklace when I borrowed her laptop at her place once."
"Agate?" Penelope asked anxiously, "What was it like? Give me the deets!"
"Just a basic agate necklace."
Seeing that she couldn't squeeze any more info, Penelope dismissed Linda. But as Linda was about to step out, Penelope stopped her, handing her a brand-new Chanel bag from the couch. Linda was taken aback.
"When was this?"
"That was two months ago when Lucian and Carter visited the Lindberg family."
That was water under the bridge.
"Damn it!" Unable to control her rage, Penelope hurled her mug to the floor. Linda jumped back in fear. Margo told Linda to take a hike, then helped Penelope sit down, "Ms. Flanagan, you gotta keep your cool. Think about the bun in the oven."
Mentioning the baby only made Penelope more furious. If the baby was Lucian's, she would be fine, but the truth was far from it.
In five months, if Lucian hadn't agreed to marry her by then and the baby was born not to be his through a DNA test, she would be out of luck.
"Margo, you're gonna accompany me to Blue Mountain Estate tomorrow. I'll get that necklace back by hook or by crook."
