At the entrance of the private room, Lucian Lindberg squinted slightly, seeing a figure that was both familiar and somewhat blurry.
Nicholas stepped out, holding his ID.
He looked at Allison, her eyes red from crying, and said, "Look, this is my ID!"
He felt really weird about it. He just went out to use the bathroom and ran into this woman who demanded to see his ID. If this chick hadn’t been crying the whole time and didn't seem like she had a mental issue, Nicholas would have definitely called the cops.
Allison looked at his ID. The name ‘Nicholas’ was written on it along with some personal information. This man wasn't her brother.
Her eyes dimmed, and her heart calmed down.
After a pointless moment of joy, she smiled half-heartedly and apologized, "Sorry, I mistook you for someone else."
Nicholas took back his ID, hands in his pockets, ready to say something. But he saw Allison had already turned and was walking towards the other end of the corridor.
He yelled out, "Hey, what on earth are you doing? You stop me and cry, look at my ID and just leave? What the hell!"
Back in the private room, one of his friends joked, "Nick, why'd you come back? I just saw that girl crying outside. Why didn't you go comfort her? Could've been a golden opportunity."
Nicholas took a sip of his drink, waved his hand dismissively, "She seemed fine to me, just noticed her because she's pretty. Otherwise I'd think she was off her rocker."
"Maybe she was trying to hit on you, Nick. You should've been more proactive."
"Yeah, she might've just been looking for an excuse to chat and get close to you."
Nicholas pondered a bit, thought it made sense, and then chuckled.
Lucian's face darkened. He glanced at his joking friend who immediately cut the crap, "What's up with Luca, he suddenly.”
Lucian suddenly looked upset.
"Who knows." The friend whispered back, "His mood's always all over the place."
...
After Jesse's birthday party, Allison returned home.
"Thanks, Ana." Allison took the dumplings, looking at Ana standing at the door, "Anything else, Ana?"
Ana asked, "Allison, do you have a boyfriend?"
Allison guessed, Ana wouldn't be trying to set her up, would she? She replied, "Yes, he's working out of town."
Ana seemed a bit disappointed. Allison was beautiful, gentle, and generous. She had a relative of a similar age.
"Alright, won't bother you anymore. Allison, remember to take your keys when you go out. The property management here can sometimes be tough. I once had a long argument with them about a spare key because I forgot to bring mine." Ana said.
Allison looked at Ana suspiciously, why would she suddenly remind her to take her keys? She suddenly remembered her jewelry box that was out of order, "Ana, did anyone come to my place this morning?"
"Just you came back." Ana said.
She closed the door, leaning against it. She walked back to the bed, opened the jewelry box, and found it wasn't her imagination.
Someone indeed had been here this morning besides her!
