Emma nodded, "Sure thing, but it'll take a minute. I need to brew a fresh pot."
Allison turned to Patty, "Take a seat."
Patty glanced at the leather couch, her brow furrowing slightly at the sight of a thin layer of dust. Clad in her champagne-colored Chanel suit, she couldn't possibly risk tarnishing it. Just then, Allison's voice took on a firm edge that Patty couldn't ignore.
"Patty, dear, please, sit down."
Her eyes had changed.
There was no trace of mirth in them.
Though a smile played on her lips, it never reached her eyes.
Patty felt a jolt of alarm but complied, sitting down.
After all, it was just an outfit worth several grand. Once she climbed to the executive ranks, she'd have everything she desired and wouldn't need to defer to a benefactor's mistress anymore.
"Allison, I didn't know you'd be back today. You see, I've been so swamped lately, this place... I completely forgot to tidy up for you. Now that you're the rising starlet in showbiz, your dressing room can't just be left to any cleaning lady. What if she nicked something and it got out? That would be a real hassle."
Allison simply nodded, "Patty, you make a good point." She instructed Emma, "You got all that? Make sure you learn from it."
Emma was busy with the kettle, which chose that moment to boil, breaking the silence with the sound of bubbling water. "Got it. I'll make sure to learn."
Patty felt a bit sheepish in front of Allison, especially after 'Day Zero' was pulled. Pulling out the prepared materials, she said, "This is a script from Director Zhang, a strong female lead story, a real trendy palace drama. And here's an endorsement deal for a luxury watch brand. Take a look. Even though 'Day Zero' has a new lead, we're not short on opportunities. Whatever you need, we've got."
"Thanks, Patty. Emma, can you put those away for me? I'll give them a proper look later. I'm a bit worn out, just got off the plane. I'll head back to my apartment. If you need anything, you can reach out to Emma."
He had been placed at Epic Entertainment by the former boss, who had since moved on. Without that support, Kenneth had been working diligently on his own, clearing up old messes. These past couple of years, his hands had been clean.
However, Hudson was Mr. Landry's protégé.
With the upcoming audit next week, Mr. Landry was sure to back Hudson.
Hudson's own ledger was far worse, riddled with corruption and tales of young talents he'd taken advantage of.
A knock at the door pulled Kenneth from his thoughts. He removed his glasses, "Come in."
It was his assistant, Agnes.
Seeing Kenneth's troubled expression, Agnes spoke up, "Kenneth, Allison's assistant Emma is here to see you."
