Allison noticed Daisy's emotions running high and quickly took her hand. "Daisy, you really need to get some rest."
Daisy had been keeping a bedside vigil for days, and it was painfully obvious she was wasting away. Her face had hollowed out, becoming noticeably thinner. Allison's heart ached for her and she wanted Daisy to take care of herself. With Frances still unconscious, Daisy was on the verge of collapsing herself.
Daisy's gaze shifted from Wilton's face to Allison's. "Allison, I want to be here for him. Please, let me stay by his side."
Allison bit her lip. "Then you need to take care of yourself too."
Daisy shook her head. Nothing mattered to her at the moment except for Frances waking up.
Allison stayed the whole night with Daisy, and Wilton didn't leave either. Eventually, Daisy, exhausted, leaned on Allison's shoulder. Allison gently held her while Wilton fetched a throw blanket, draping it over Daisy. Only then did Allison really look at Wilton.
He was young and handsome, just as the rumors suggested. A bit of a rogue with a wild streak. But now, his eyes were bloodshot, dark circles underneath, and a stubble graced his chin. He, too, looked like he hadn't rested in days.
Allison knew that against illness, one's own power is limited. She couldn't offer Daisy much comfort, but she could stay by her side. She called Emma to request a couple of days off. Then she reached out to Mr. Simonds. It was late, but Mr. Simonds hadn't retired for the night yet. Upon receiving Allison's message, he called her back promptly.
Allison regarded Wilton with a new level of scrutiny and caution, her voice low, "Daisy's my friend, and I'm not leaving. Besides, don't you think, given our current state, the one who needs rest is you?"
Wilton retorted, "This is a Boswell family matter."
"Keep your family drama to yourselves and don't drag Daisy into it." Allison knew the Boswell family was a mess. Mina would be thrilled if Frances never opened his eyes again, so she could get her hands on his shares. With Frances 'gone' and Wilton discredited as incompetent, she could seize control of Boswell Enterprises during its time of crisis.
Allison never imagined Daisy would fall for Mr. Frances Boswell. When she was set to marry into the Boswell family, Daisy had come to her in tears. Now, she was deeply entangled. Allison didn't care to meddle with the Boswell family affairs; she was just an ordinary person, powerless against such a mighty dynasty. All she wanted was for Daisy to find happiness.
