Allison just hopped out of the shower and flopped onto her bed.
Lean mentioned that she’d have a chance to visit her mom tomorrow.
Recently, every time Allison bumped into Lean and Penelope at the Flanagan’s, she was as humble as pie and tiptoed around them like they were landmines, scared to tick them off.
It seemed like they loved her being their doormat.
She had only seen Grace once since her kidney transplant. That time, Grace was having a severe rejection reaction, so bad that she was even rushed to the ICU.
Allison prayed her butt off, hoping her mom could pull through.
But now, her mom's condition was getting better.
And Allison was finally breathing easier.
Every time she went to the hospital, they blindfolded her. There were hundreds of hospitals and private clinics in Northfield, and she had no way of checking them all out.
She pulled up the maps on her phone.
She had to find her mom. She wanted to get the hell out of Northfield, find another place, and live a quiet life with her mom.
She wanted to get away from the Flanagan family, and…
Lucian.
She eliminated the closest five hospitals and the furthest ten based on her trips to the hospital and slowly narrowed down the search.
Eventually, she ruled out several more hospitals based on her memory of the ward, the hallways, and the elevators.
After a long search, Allison was beat and switched off the light, dozing off on the bed.
In her sleep, she suddenly felt pressure on her chest.
She was having a hard time catching her breath.
She felt like she was choking.
She was gasping for breath.
She groggily opened her eyes.
Before Allison could finish, he tore her clothes off again.
Her face went pale in an instant. She never thought her words would set Lucian off. The next thing she knew, he was on top of her, and the pain made her dizzy.
She held back the pain, “He has no girlfriend, no wife, why can’t I be with him…” Allison didn’t understand why he was so mad. She had distanced herself from him, why wouldn’t he leave her alone? Did he still think she was playing hard to get?
“Lucian, don’t you think you’re sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong? Why does it matter to you if I’m with Dr. Dylan? We like each other…”
She couldn’t figure out why he was so mad…
This confession, “we like each other,” shattered the last bit of Lucian’s sanity. His eyes were bloodshot. He looked like a demon straight from hell. Allison didn’t know what to do, she was a bit scared, and a bit lost…
Then, a smile spread across his handsome, indifferent face.
Under the dim light, his smile was cold…
“Allison.” He called her name, took her phone, and flipped to a contact, “Is this his number?”
Then, he hit the call button.
