The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 75

He barged into his study, fired up his computer, and there it was - the info about "Allison" that Shawn had sent. He'd already pored over it several times. Every single picture, every line of text, painted this woman named "Allison" as a vain creature, even featuring snaps of her partying with several guys at a nightclub.

He gritted his teeth, the memory of last night's meltdown stoking his anger even more.

How could he have taken an interest in a woman like this!

Today was the day Allison could see Grace. Last night, Lucian had unleashed his rage on her, leaving her body aching all over.

She barely managed to pull herself together and by the time she arrived at the Flanagan family mansion, the car Lean had arranged was already waiting.

She was blindfolded and led into the car.

Throughout the journey, she tried her best to identify the route from the sounds around her.

The car took a turn, seemingly on purpose, only to swing back again.

With a bodyguard accompanying her, Allison struck up a conversation, "I'm kinda thirsty. Are there any places selling water nearby? I could use a drink."

Allison was pretty, and she spoke in a gentle voice.

The bodyguard didn't refuse. "Sure, just hang on. We'll pull over."

He got out of the car and when he returned, he handed Allison a bottle of water and a slice of strawberry cake, "Have something to eat. We'll be at the hospital soon."

"Thanks."

"No problem." The bodyguard was simply following orders - accompanying this woman to the hospital. But since she was beautiful and quiet, he found his job pretty easy, and his mood was good.

"Who's the person in the hospital to you?"

"My mother."

"That's a tough illness to treat. One of my buddies' dad had it. Needed dialysis every day, but he couldn't hang in there."

"Do you know how much it costs to stay here? It's too expensive, I don't need to be here, I'm better now, we can go home," Grace held Allison's hand.

Allison's eyes filled with tears at the sight of her mother.

How she wished she could take her mother home.

But Grace was confined to her hospital room, under the watchful eyes of bodyguards. She had no idea Lean had her under house arrest.

Allison didn't want this to upset her mother, so she comforted her, "Mom, don't worry, I have enough money. Mr. Flanagan lent me some, and I still have a lot left. Just stay here and take it easy. Besides school, I'm also working, and I'll save as much as I can. So mom, don't worry. But I might not be able to visit you often."

"Silly girl, my illness is incurable. Even if I have surgery, I can only live a few more years..."

"Mom..." Allison hugged Grace tightly.

Grace said, "I dreamt of your father and your brother the other day. I thought they came to take me away. I walked with them for a long time, but I heard you calling me. I really couldn't bear to leave you. You're the only family I have left."
