The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 84

"But..."

Penelope attempted to speak but was interrupted by Christopher. "We'll discuss this later. Now, let's enjoy the meal."

She was a bit miffed, biting her lip, but for the sake of keeping her cool, she swallowed her resentment.

She looked up and saw Lucian looking elsewhere. His gaze was on Allison, who was walking out of the kitchen, seemingly making her exit through the back door.

She felt a pang of frustration and clenched her fists tightly.

Allison...

Even in her plain clothes and a mask covering half her face, she still managed to catch Lucian's attention.

She decided she wasn't going to let Allison off that easily!

Penelope gave Margo a silent nod.

Noticing her cue, Margo nodded back and quickly headed towards the kitchen...

Meanwhile, Allison had just finished the tasks Margo assigned to her. She planned to leave while the Lindbergs were eating to avoid another encounter with Lucian.

But as soon as she got home, she heard Linda's urgent voice. "Allison, come quickly."

"What's going on?" asked Allison.

"Margo wants us in the living room right away," Linda said.

Allison felt confused. In the living room? Wouldn't that mean facing the Lindbergs? Penelope wouldn't allow that, and why would Margo do this without instructions?

Without much thought, she immediately followed Linda.

In the living room, everyone had finished their meal and was sitting on the couch. The atmosphere was a bit odd.

She looked up, her eyes meeting Lucian's. A few seconds later, his gaze slowly drifted away, as if their previous encounter on the balcony never happened.

Even the most naive Allison realized she was in trouble.

Margo walked up to her, her face stern, "Allison, the miss's engagement ring is missing. Did you take it?"

Take?

Allison frowned. Wasn't this indirectly accusing her of stealing the ring?

That ring was what Lucian gave her when they got engaged. The Lindbergs had it custom made for the engagement, very expensive. Penelope had always treasured it. How could it suddenly be gone?

Despite being puzzled, Allison calmly responded, "When I went to tidy up the bedroom, it was already cleaned. I didn't see the ring."

Margo's voice grew louder, "The only ones who went to the bedroom were you and Wendy. Now, the ring is missing. One of you two is definitely lying!"
