The words "birth control pills" rang through the air, and a tension gripped Thalassa’s nerve. She turned to the door, her spoonful of soup from Lysander still half-swallowed.

Amelia rushed in.

It was her who yelled just now.

Amelia strode into the hospital room, her eyes landing on Lysander sitting by the bed with a bowl of soup in hand and spoon poised; it was obvious that he was feeding Thalassa.

Lysander, always so aloof and icy, who had never shown a scrap of warmth or paid anyone a second glance, was actually spoon-feeding a woman!

Amelia was astonished by the sight, then a scornful chuckle escaped her lips. She glanced at Thalassa and remarked, “Do you think you’re a three-year-old with a scraped knee, faking up the cutesy act to get spoon-fed?”

Thalassa’s cheeks were puffed out with the mouthful of soup, giving her a somewhat dazed and endearing look.

Thalassa’s breath grew heavy as she was stung by Amelia’s barb.

Swallowing the soup, she retorted, “I didn’t ask him to feed me; he wanted to.”

She instinctively turned to Lysander upon saying this, locking eyes with his deep, knowing gaze. But she paused, and her breath tightened.

His innate aura of authority always managed to unsettle her heart.
