Last time when Thalassa was with her friend Hertha for a blind date, Lysander seemed to know every detail as if he had been there himself.
She suspected that Alaric must be the one who called Lysander to spill the beans.
But this time was different. As she got into the car, there was no one familiar on the street, no passersby who might recognize her. How on earth did Lysander find out?
After some thought, Thalassa concluded that it must have been Ethan who saw her and tipped off Lysander.
After all, Lysander's buddies were always in his corner, a bunch of gossipy meddlers eager for a juicy story. If she and Lysander ever had a falling out, those guys would be the first to grab the popcorn, especially Ethan.
Ethan's teasing smile paused for a moment before it broadened. He crossed his arms and said leisurely, "Lysander gave me a heads-up yesterday, told me to mind my own beeswax."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Thalassa asked, puzzled.
Ethan looked at her and explained, "I was just chilling with my phone when I caught that moment of Callum ruffling your hair—straight out of a teen drama. I couldn't hog the show all to myself. I had to share it with Lysander. And then I got a warning from him."
Thalassa's heart jumped to her throat, a mix of surprise and alarm quickly morphing into annoyance. "Mr. Ethan, it's a real shame you're not a paparazzo with that nosy streak of yours. If you were, the others wouldn't stand a chance."
Noticing Thalassa was genuinely miffed, Ethan sobered up, no longer jesting. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry. It won't happen again, I swear. Plus, Lysander has already warned me off. From now on, I'm blind and deaf to whatever you do, whomever you're with. I won't see a thing, won't hear a thing."
His words were a clear dig at her.
Thalassa lifted the pile of documents in her hand, threatening to toss them at Ethan.
Ethan quickly made his escape from the secretary's office and bolted back to his own, realizing the absurdity of the situation.
