"Sorry, I need to go to the restroom," Evelyn mumbled, her stomach churning in discomfort.
As soon as Evelyn left, the room was left with only Thalassa and Callum again, and the awkwardness that had started at the dinner table seemed to intensify, hanging in the air like a thick fog.
"Um, you want some water? I'll go pour you a glass." Thalassa said, getting up to head towards the pitcher on the nightstand. As she passed by Callum, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her hand.
Thalassa gasped, her eyes wide as she turned to look at him. Callum's eyes, warm and soothing, locked onto hers, his expression turning serious and tender.
"I'm single, you're single—that's enough. We can work through everything else," Callum said, knowing what was on her mind. He cared for her, for the person she was. Her children and her surroundings were none of his consideration.
He finally understood what Leopold had gone through.
No wonder Leopold didn't care about her past and whether she had children or not, he just wanted to be by her side.
Love could indeed make you throw caution to the wind.
Thalassa's wrist trembled in his grip, and his words struck her like lightning. She was about to pull away when the door burst open, a dark, chilling presence sweeping through the room like an icy draft that made the skin crawl.
Thalassa turned to the door and her heart skipped a beat. There, in a shadowy silhouette, was Lysander.
His profile was enigmatic against the dim light, his stride purposeful as he entered the room.
Lysander in Eldoria? Why was he here?
While Thalassa was still reeling in shock, Lysander quickly approached, yanking her wrist from Callum's grasp and pulling her to his side.
