The car pulled up just outside the gates of Star Harbor Estates, and before they could enter, Thalassa told Callum to stop.
"Thanks for the ride. This is fine," Thalassa pushed the car door open and stepped out.
Her spirits were low because she was still enveloped in the sorrow of Leopold's reason for his passing.
With a quick thanks, Thalassa walked towards the villa area, her soul seemingly detached from her body.
Suddenly, a figure burst from behind a trash can, her hair wild and her appearance eerily unnerving.
She dashed to Thalassa's side, grabbing her shoulder and flashing a small knife, its blade gleaming dangerously close to Thalassa's neck.
Her series of movements were finished in an instant, leaving no chance for Thalassa to react.
By the time Thalassa realized what was happening, the cold metal of the blade was pressed against her neck, a slight push away from cutting through her skin.
Fear replaced Thalassa's melancholy in an instant as she clearly felt the cold touch of metal pressing against the skin of her neck.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Thalassa asked with panic in her voice.
"Thalassa, you wretch, it’s been three years and why you are still not dead yet? It's all because of you that I lost my parents and ended up homeless! You wouldn’t let me go even when I was on the streets, trying to take away the fifty thousand dollars that was almost in my grasp!" The woman holding Thalassa's shoulder spat out with venom, her breath heavy and her knife-wielding hand trembling with rage.
Thalassa's heart skipped a beat, suddenly recognizing the voice that sent shockwaves through her mind—it was Susan!
She was the beggar who threw herself in front of Rosalind's car, attempting a scam for fifty thousand dollars just moments earlier.
