After Thalassa stepped out, Lysander didn't pause for even a moment. Placing his palms against the floor, he gathered all his strength, attempting to push his upper body up and desperately trying to get his legs to move.
But no matter how much effort he put into it, his legs remained unresponsive.
It had only been a couple of minutes since Thalassa had left when she returned to find Lysander had managed to prop himself up slightly, his rear end hanging in the air as he tried to force his legs to stand.
His forehead was dotted with beads of sweat from the effort, indicating he was on the verge of standing up.
Thalassa's heart raced, and she abruptly stopped in her tracks, signaling David to pause as well. They stood behind Lysander, watching him with anticipation, hoping he could stand.
In that tense moment, Lysander pushed himself to his highest point yet, but his hands could no longer support his body, and he struggled to stand.
However, his legs still felt nothing, and his arms, overwhelmed by the strain, gave way, causing him to fall back to the ground with a muted thud.
"Lysander!" Thalassa's heart skipped a beat as she rushed forward.
Hearing Thalassa's voice, Lysander felt an even stronger surge of frustration. He clenched his teeth and pounded his fist onto his leg, his breathing rough and labored.
In an instant, Thalassa understood the depth of Lysander's frustration and agony.
He had always been on top, untouchable, a figure standing at the pinnacle. Suddenly being unable to stand was a blow to his dignity.
Thalassa took his fist in her hands, comforting him with tender words, "Lysander, don't rush yourself. Recovery takes time. You need to give yourself that time."
David quickly came over too, squatting down to support Lysander's other arm, adding, "Mr. Sinclair, Ms. Everhart is right."
Lysander's cheeks tensed, his jaws clenched tight. He understood the logic, but time... how much time would it take?
Three years, five years, a decade, or even twenty?
