Thalassa caught her just in time, giving Lydia a look that screamed, "hold your horses."
Just then, Lysander wheeled around, his gaze locking onto Thalassa.
Lydia, who had been blocking Thalassa's view, got a good look at the man before her. Her eyes widened, her expression turned solemn, and she snapped to attention, standing tall and straight like an oak tree, feet together, and saluted Lysander with military precision, announcing loud and clear, "Sir, yes, sir!"
Thalassa: "..."
This sudden shift in Lydia's demeanor left Thalassa gobsmacked. She flicked her gaze between Lysander and Lydia, bewildered.
Lydia stood there, all seriousness and respect, even a tad nervous, saluting Lysander like she was in the presence of a general.
Thalassa blinked in confusion, wondering what on earth was going on.
Why was Lydia addressing Lysander as if he were a high-ranking officer?
Rosalind, who had been eyeing Thalassa, was also caught off guard by this turn of events, her curiosity piqued.
Lysander lifted his gaze, giving Lydia a brief once-over with his deep, soulful eyes, and said in a low tone, "We're not on duty here, no need for salutes."
"Understood, sir!" Lydia responded, lowering her hand but keeping her posture rigid and straight.
Rosalind caught on, a smirk playing on her lips as she coolly remarked, "Leave it to me to bring along someone who knows how to butter up the boss."
Rosalind was usually the epitome of grace and knowledge. But today, she was riled up by something Lysander had said.
She had come to the Royal Estates, intending to look after Lysander as usual, but no sooner had she arrived than Lysander told her not to bother anymore. He was going to talk to Joshua and call off their engagement.
