Thalassa's heart clenched, tension radiating through her as she awaited Lysander's response.
"What did you just say?" Lysander's voice, low and magnetic, cut through the silence. Although it might have been too soft for others, Thalassa was right in front of him, hearing every word clearly.
She blinked, suddenly realizing Lysander had asked her a question. The words she had spoken didn't seem to have registered with him.
Locking eyes with Lysander, her heartbeat skipped. Clutching the microphone tighter, she spoke to Lysander, enunciating every word clearly, "Lysander, I like you! I've liked you since three years ago. It was all those misunderstandings that had me holding back, running away from you. I don't want you to get married—not to stop your wedding because you're the father of my child, but because I like you!"
Finally, Thalassa laid bare her true feelings, clear and unequivocal, to Lysander.
Nervousness left her palms sweaty.
Confessing to Lysander again, in front of an audience no less, had her back drenched in sweat.
As her words hung in the air, Thalassa felt the weight of curious glances upon her, the pressure immense.
Yet Thalassa had no time to gauge the reactions of others; her anxious yet hopeful gaze was fixed on Lysander, whose deep, ocean-like eyes were fixed on her in return.
His stare made Thalassa's heart race even faster, her grip on the microphone tightening.
Two seconds later, Lysander's lips curved into a slight smile, his voice, resonant and pleasing, asked, "How can you prove that you like me?"
Thalassa froze. She was waiting for Lysander's answer, yet he countered with another question, not directly responding to her confession.
She looked at Lysander, blinking, puzzled on how to prove her affection for him.
How could she?
Rosalind, who had been anxiously hoping for Lysander to reject Thalassa, panicked at his question. She quickly stepped forward, intending to push Lysander away.
