If their wedding were ruined today because of an outsider, it would have devastated him.
Tears brimmed in Emmeline's eyes, overwhelmed by emotion. At this moment, she truly felt bliss.
"I know, Spencer, I'm sorry. I should have trusted you," Emmeline sobbed to Spencer, her tears flowing. She turned to her father, saying, "Dad, I trust him. I don't want to leave. I want to marry him."
Emmeline's father had witnessed the depth of affection between Spencer and Emmeline. Having been through more seasons and tasted more varieties of life's salt than Emmeline had bread, how could he not see the love Emmeline had for Spencer? And Spencer's words to Emmeline were sincerely heartfelt.
As a father, he naturally wished for his daughter's happiness.
His initial desire to pull Emmeline away was out of a moment of fury, blindly believing the words of a stranger.
Seeing the pleading look in Emmeline's eyes softened her father's features. A gentle smile graced his lips as he told Emmeline, "Follow your heart, my dear. Your dad supports you."
With her father's blessings, Emmeline's tears fell like pearls snapped from a string, unable to articulate the joy and excitement bubbling within her.
"Thank you, Dad." Emmeline's tears fell as she took Spencer's hand in front of her father.
Hertha, witnessing this scene, felt a weight lift off her shoulders. She had been terrified of ruining Spencer's wedding because of her.
Seeing the couple reconcile, she finally relaxed, her previously tense shoulders easing.
Alaric, standing by her side, had observed her shift from anxiety to relief, silently wrapping her in his embrace.
Hertha felt the warmth of a chest against her back and, turning with a start, saw Alaric's devilishly handsome face. Realizing it was Alaric who had pulled her close, she shot him an annoyed glare, shrugging her shoulders in an attempt to shake him off. But Alaric's grip was firm.
Both were more anxious than the officiant, fearing another unforeseen incident could ruin their wedding.
The couple, eager to unite, were genuinely afraid something baseless would spoil their ceremony.
And the woman who had been so certain, claiming Spencer loved Hertha and was marrying Emmeline out of obligation, was promptly "escorted" out of the wedding by Spencer's mother after Alaric's sudden proposal to Hertha and Emmeline and Spencer's heartfelt reconciliation.
With order restored, Spencer and Emmeline's wedding concluded.
Hertha watched Spencer and Emmeline, hand in hand, her lips curling into a smile of blessings.
Suddenly, a whisper tickled her ear, a warm breath teasing her sensitive earlobe in a low, seductive tone, "How will you thank me tonight?"
