Hertha tried her best to compose herself, swallowing hard before gently pushing away Alaric's hand from her shoulder.
"What's the matter? You've made me miserable for three years, and I can't make you squirm for a few minutes?"
Alaric's sharp, beautifully captivating eyes looked at her. He intended to respond to her words, but upon reflecting on their deeper meaning, he was momentarily stunned, then overwhelmed with joy.
In a rush of excitement, he pulled Hertha into a tight embrace, holding her as if she were his most treasured possession.
"I'm sorry, Hertha, so sorry. It's my fault you've been hurting these three years," he murmured, his chin resting on Hertha's shoulder. His voice was slightly rough, his warm breath tickling her delicate neck.
Every detail reflected a man's profound love for a woman.
A man only shows such vulnerability in front of the woman he loves most, revealing a rawness in his voice uncontrollably.
Caught off guard by his embrace, Hertha felt the warmth from his chest seep through the thin fabric onto her skin, warming her heart.
And his words warmed her ears even more.
She could feel the depth of Alaric's love for her.
And in this moment, she opened her heart fully, loving him without any reservations.
Before today's encounter with Georgia, Hertha loved Alaric but always felt there was a hurdle she couldn't overcome. It was like being about to enjoy her favorite dish, only to find a fly in it.
Even after removing the fly, the dish seemed tainted.
She couldn't bring herself to discard the meal, nor could she stomach the thought of eating it.
The dilemma was truly unbearable.
But meeting Georgia today and learning the truth allowed Hertha to finally get over that hurdle.
