Chapter 328
Thalassa’s lip twitched slightly after listening to her mom. If she told her mom that she’d returned the car to the company, Evelyn would probably blow her top.
But hey, there was always another day to break the news.
After dinner, Thalassa headed out to pick them up.
She arrived at the hospital where Isabella was being cared for.
She walked into the ward, her memory guiding her to Isabella’s room.
Halfway there, a man suddenly emerged from a room.
The man had a bandage wrapped around his waist and one leg, and he needed a crutch to walk.
Thalassa thought he was just an ordinary patient, so she didn’t pay him any attention and intended to walk past him.
But the guy blocked her path. His tall figure stood in front of her, and then he opened his mouth in a pained voice, “Thalassa, it’s you. You’re here to see your dad, aren’t you?”
The word “dad” seemed to trigger something fragile in Thalassa. She looked up sharply at the man in front of her. Upon closer inspection, she realized that this wasn’t just any man, it was Bruce!
Thalassa instantly went on guard, stating coldly, “Don’t mistake me for someone else. I don’t have a dad!”
With that, she tried to walk past him:
But Bruce stepped forward, grabbing her hand, “Thalassa, it’s all my fault. If I’d known your mom didn’t have an abortion all those years ago and gave birth to you, I would’ve stepped up and performed my duty. I would’ve raised you, spoiled you. Your mom lied to me and she said that she had an abortion.”
Bruce’s voice was filled with regret and self-reproach.
Looking into his eyes, Thalassa could clearly see the paternal love there.
As she listened to his words, watched his expression, Thalassa’s usually tough exterior softened unexpectedly.
Growing up, “father” had always been a distant concept for Thalassa.
Every time she saw other kids being spoiled by their fathers, she couldn’t help but feel lonely.
Especially after her cousin, Celia, had passed away. Celia’s father had fallen ill and died not long after due to grief.
These events gave Thalassa a deeper understanding of “fatherly love”. It was a love as grand as a mountain, as deep as the ocean.
A father’s love for his daughter could be so profound that it turned into sickness from longing.
She too had yearned for a father who would love her.
When she was young, that was just a pipe dream.
But now, out of the blue, there was someone claiming to be her father!
