Chapter 692
The little ones rushed in, and only to find the bed unoccupied.
Elowen, at the forefront of the pack, halted abruptly. The other kids behind her failed to stop in time, crashing into her one by one like dominoes. The scene was comical and totally adorable.
Upon hearing the kids’ ruckus, Thalassa, with a toothbrush in her mouth, hastily turned around. She forgot her injured foot so pain shot through her, eliciting a hiss.
A strong hand grabbed her arm. Lysander’s low, magnetic voice chided, “Easy now!”
As he helped Thalassa out of the bathroom, the sight of the kids piled up on the floor welcomed them.
Sophia, the last one to fall, landed on her bottom and rolled aside like a little tumbleweed. People could see she was in pain.
Thalassa’s heart ached as words caught in her throat. Thankfully, Sophia didn’t cry out in pain but swiftly got up, looking dazed and disoriented.
Soon, Atticus got up, and Dorian rolled to the side.
Elowen, who was pinned at the bottom, whimpered, “Ouch, that hurts.”
She lifted her chubby hand to rub her waist.
Lysander released Thalassa on seeing this. He quickly stepped forward to pick up Elowen.
Upon seeing her father, tears welled up in Elowen’s sparkling eyes, “Daddy, it hurts…
“I’ll massage it for you.” Lysander’s big hand gently rubbed the area Elowen had touched earlier, applying just the right amount of pressure.
Thalassa stood on one foot and watched the scene unfold.
Elowen was indeed the most adorable and lively little girl. She knew how to act cute perfectly.
Even Lysander, the typically icy and aloof man, softened under her cuteness.
He was incredibly patient with Elowen without showing a slightest hint of irritation.
“Does it still hurt?” Lysander asked in his soothing voice while caressing Elowen’s small frame.
Elowen shook her head. Her pigtail braids were swaying with the movement, looking exceptionally cute.
Her innocent eyes then turned to Thalassa, who was standing not far away. With a joyful shout, Elowen called out, “Mommy!”
By now, the other kids had gathered around Thalassa, ready for some cuddle time and the warmth of their mother’s embrace.
Their excited steps halted once more.
Atticus was the first to notice the bandage around Thalassa’s foot. With his eyes filled with concern, he asked, “Mommy, are you hurt again?”
His tiny brows furrowed upon finishing asking. Then, he shot a glance at Lysander.
Thalassa quickly explained, “I was climbing a hill yesterday and twisted my ankle. It was Daddy who saved me. Or you wouldn’t have seen Mommy anymore.
Thalassa knew what Atticus was thinking just by reading his glance. He must’ve assumed that Lysander hurt her again. She just couldn’t let him continue this misunderstanding.
Before, Atticus had a few misconceptions that Lysander had hurt her. In his quest for justice, he had cost the Sinclair group a billion dollars.
