Chapter 711
She needed to go back and keep Evelyn company, so she wouldn’t feel lonely.
Most importantly, back on the golf course, she distinctly felt a change in Lysander’s demeanor.
His heated presence pressing against her back was akin to that of a predator poised to pounce on its prey.
If she went back to the Royal Estates, it would undoubtedly lead to a tumultuous confrontation that would last a very long time.
She wanted to rest. She was worn out.
Therefore, she decided to head back to the Vibrant Oasis Residences, seeking solitude.
The moment Thalassa finished speaking, Hertha turned the steering wheel, veering towards the left at the intersection.
Thalassa was taken aback. “You’re on the straight lane!”
Yet she turned right, an act that would certainly earn a penalty.
It was quite precarious.
“Really? I had no idea.” Hertha responded, seemingly oblivious.
Thalassa realized that perhaps she was being too optimistic. Hertha must still be upset. Her earlier composure was merely a facade.
“It’s okay. Getting a penalty isn’t the end of the world. Just be careful next time.” Thalassa reassured her.
As the car ventured forward, nearing the Vibrant Oasis Residences, a night market came into view. Its stalls were bustling with activity.
While observing the scene from the car window, Thalassa made a suggestion. “Hertha, it’s been a while since we had a drink. How about we grab some barbecue and booze tonight?”
“Sounds good.” Hertha parked the car by the roadside.
They chose the most bustling stall and ordered barbecue and some beer.
Soon, the vendor served them. The tantalizing aroma of the barbecue wafting through the air truly tempted one’s taste buds.
Thalassa patted Hertha’s shoulder, smiling. “Nothing a good barbecue can’t fix, and if it doesn’t, there’s always a second round.” Hertha, finally breaking into a smile, exclaimed, “Exactly! What’s there to worry about?! Cheers! Let’s drink till we drop!”
They each poured themselves a pint of beer.
In the midst of their merriment, Thalassa’s phone rang. It was Fitch.
Thalassa answered with a warm and slightly tipsy voice. “Hello…”
“Ms. Everhart, the children want to talk to you.” Fitch hadn’t finished speaking.
From the other end of the phone, a child’s soft voice echoed. “Mommy, why aren’t you home?”
It was Dorian’s voice.
“Mommy, where are you?” Atticus asked.
“Just tell us where you are, and we’ll come find you.” Elowen eagerly added.
