Chapter 762
Thalassa turned to see Jason; his meaningful and lingering gaze had been unnerving her all along.
But she had refrained from voicing her discomfort.
It’s not her fault or anyone else’s fault that people found her attractive.
However, she didn’t feel entitled to pursue love now. She was fearful of leading someone on.
Thalassa calmly declined, “Thanks, but I’ll call my own cab. It’s more convenient that way.”
“It’s okay. I’m going your way,” Jason quickly replied.
He insisted it was on his way despite not knowing where she lived.
Thalassa wanted to quash his hopes, so she spoke frankly, “Jason, stop pursuing me. It’s not going to happen. There are plenty of wonderful ladies at the office, so stop wasting your time on me.”
She only wanted what was best for him. If he was bent on pursuing her, he’d be wasting his own time.
That would perhaps even cause him disaster.
Jason’s friendly demeanor faded and it was replaced by a slightly harsh look.
You want to be with Mr. Ethan? Do you really think that’s possible? It’s okay to be ambitious, but you have to know your place.”
Thalassa was taken aback. She had been worried about wasting his precious time and kindly suggested he not waste it on her. And he ended up looking down on her, assuming she was only suitable to be with someone like him, a junior procurement officer.. No…maybe he thought that being with him would be a step up for her!
Thalassa laughed in disbelief, “I know my place very well, and it’s not in your car. Please leave.”
She turned and walked away, not wanting to engage in further pointless conversation.
Jason’s car followed her slowly. He leaned out the window and tried to persuade her, “My parents have a retirement fund, I have a steady job and I’m an only child. You wouldn’t have to work or worry about finances after marrying me. You can just stay home and take care of our kids. What more do you want? I don’t get it. Mr. Ethan may be desirable, but how many women have actually managed to be with him? Women like you, with high standards and big ambitions, fail to see their own status!”
Thalassa found this amusing. She had only the man met a few times, yet he was audacious and gas lighting her!
Thalassa stopped abruptly and cast him a fierce look, “If you’re so proud of being an only child, then stay that way. We women are not worthy of someone with a royal inheritance like yours! Enjoy your parents’ retirement fund and grow old alone!”
What an ass!
It would be a wonder if this man ever had a girlfriend.
Jason’s face darkened. He parked the car, got out, and grabbed Thalassa’s wrist, “Get in the car!”
His grip was strong as if he could force her into his car and win her over.
“Let go of me!” Thalassa struggled, shocked at his sudden rage.
Just as she was about to be dragged into his car, a black vehicle zoomed past, striking Jason’s Volkswagen on the side.
The impact sent the car shaking, and Jason, who was near the car, froze in shock.
Thalassa stood there wide-eyed.
