Still, she couldn’t afford to cross him. If she did, she might never find work again. 

After all, she had been fired by Lysander. Any company in Starhaven that knew about it wouldn’t dare hire her. 

Plus, the Crawley Group offered her a very high salary, and it was impossible for her to have such a high salary outside. 

Hence, she had no choice but to continue slogging at the Crawley Group. 

Thalassa hid her resentment towards Ethan. Flashing him a radiant smile, she said, “Mr. Ethan, do you enjoy mixing personal grudges with work?” 

“Not at all. I keep business strictly professional,” Ethan replied earnestly. 

Grinding her teeth, Thalassa forced a smile. “Alright, Mr. Ethan. I’m off to pick out the gift now.” 

As she turned around, her smile faded, and she muttered under her breath, “Ethan, you damn boss. One day, I’ll fire you!” 

Ethan watched her retreating figure, smirking. He knew she was cursing him. Ever since Thalassa joined the Crawley Group, his mundane office life had become much more interesting. 

Thalassa and Ethan went to visit Leopold in the hospital after shopping. 

Before they even entered the room, they could hear a woman’s distressed cries and reproaches. 

“Leopold, my son, how did you get so hurt? Your scars from the last motorcycle accident haven’t fully healed, and now you’re injured again. Why don’t you take better care of yourself? What would I do if something happened to you?” 

Amelia sat by Leopold’s bed, tears streaming down her face. She held his uninjured hand, quivering with distress, yet being careful not to squeeze too hard. 

“Mom, don’t cry. I’m not dead,” Leopold said. 

“Shush! Don’t say such unlucky things! Spit it out!” Amelia, pale with fright, spat several times as if to erase the word “dead” from Leopold’s sentence. 

When Ethan entered with Thalassa, he greeted him politely, “Leopold, how are you feeling?” 

Lying on the bed, Leopold looked over at them. His eyes lit up with excitement and surprise when he saw Thalassa standing behind Ethan. 

Thalassa noticed Leopold the moment she entered. His upper body was bare, bandages wrapped around his body and one arm, a brownish stain seeping through the white bandage on his chest. His other arm had an IV needle in it. But he seemed to be in good spirits. So it should be minor injuries, nothing serious.
