Chapter 811
Was it not the same with people as well as things?
If one knew that one had no destiny and no future with someone, one must let go in time.
When people finally truly let go of someone they thought they could never let go, they would suddenly find the world opening up right before their eyes.
Evelyn called Thalassa over for the meal. The mother and daughter sat at the dining table.
Three scratch marks adorned Evelyn’s face, resulting from a recent skirmish with Lucy.
Despite the marks on her face, Evelyn sternly asked, “Why did you admit to being Bruce’s daughter? Lysander was there. If I had clarified to Lucy that you’re not Bruce’s daughter, Lysander would have heard it, too. That way, he wouldn’t hold a grudge against you.”
It suddenly struck Evelyn that Thalassa’s admission to Lucy that she was Bruce’s daughter was not a rash decision made in anger.
It seemed like she really wanted Lucy to believe she was Bruce’s daughter. She was basically sabotaging her future.
“I deliberately let Lysander hear it. I don’t want him to know I’m not Bruce’s daughter,” Thalassa explained.
Slamming her cutlery onto the table, Evelyn blurted out, “Are you out of your mind? You purposely provoked Lysander?”
Thalassa had the opportunity to stay by Lysander’s side, become Mrs. Sinclair, and give her children a complete and happy childhood. But she chose to incur Lysander’s resentment instead.
Evelyn had suffered too much because of the issue with Bruce. Even today, she was assaulted at her doorstep. She was seething with anger, feeling frustrated and wronged. She did not want Thalassa to suffer like she did.
If Thalassa married Lysander, not only would she benefit, but it would also provide a complete family for their children.
Evelyn would also be able to hold her head high with pride.
Why did Thalassa refuse to seize the opportunity to win Lysander over? Instead, she provoked his anger.
Thalassa also put down her cutlery, looked at Evelyn, who was frustrated and disappointed, and said solemnly, “When I found out I’m not Bruce’s daughter, I was so excited. I rushed to tell him. But I saw him with his fiancée. And when I asked him if he would marry me if I weren’t Bruce’s daughter, he told me not to daydream.”
After today’s event, Thalassa was even more sure Lysander would not marry her. The ticket to the Sinclair family was beyond her reach.
Plus, Zephyr even looked down on her.
“What? He’s still with his fiancée?” Evelyn was shocked. Her face, previously full of blame for Thalassa, turned into anger and helplessness.
“Yeah, the heiress of the Ravensong Group and he are equal in status,” Thalassa said.
“It’s all my fault. I couldn’t give you a good family background.” Evelyn was filled with regret, blaming herself.
