Chapter 814
Lysander felt the soft, innocent kiss of the child on his cheek. It was a sweet sensation as if honey had been spread across his heart, a warmth spreading within him.
The sticky residue on his cheek did not matter.
“Alright, let’s clean you up, and then we can get going,” Lysander advised, placing Elowen down.
“Okay, I’m going to wash up and visit Mom,” Elowen immediately stopped crying and cheerfully agreed, taking Fitch’s hand and letting him lead her to the bathroom to wash up.
Fitch’s emotions had been a roller coaster. From the tense moment when Lysander had first entered the room to the panic when Elowen smeared her runny nose on him, to the satisfaction and joy he now felt.,
Lysander truly was patient with the children. He did not get mad at their mischievousness or angry when Elöwen dirtied his clothes.
Fitch had never seen Lysander tolerate someone dirtying his clothes, let alone with a pleasant expression.
Fitch, holding Elowen’s hand, led her to wash up.
Meanwhile, Lysander went upstairs to clean himself up and change.
When he returned, the children were already sitting on the sofa. Four pairs of bright, innocent eyes were eagerly awaiting him.
They had transformed from being playful to being well-behaved.
“Let’s go,” Lysander said, leading them out.
The children hopped off the sofa one by one, following him like little ducklings.
Lysander drove the car himself, with Atticus in the passenger seat and the three little ones in the backseat.
The black Rolls Royce sliced through the neon night, heading towards the Vibrant Oasis Residences.
Fresh out of the shower, Thalassa was applying medication to Evelyn’s face.
“Mom, in the future, don’t just let anyone in. Look at what they’ve done to your face,” Thalassa said, looking at the three scratch marks on Evelyn’s face, deep enough to have drawn blood.
She could only imagine how much force the mother-daughter duo had used.
Her heart clenched at the thought of what could have happened if she had not returned home in time. Her mother could have been beaten to death without anyone’s help.
It was not only because of Bruce’s continuous deceit but also because Evelyn was so easily fooled.
Evelyn did not have to say anything for Thalassa to know that her mother must still have hopes for Bruce.
Why could she not let go of such a despicable, immoral, and scum of a man?
“I know. I won’t let anyone in anymore,” Evelyn replied, her pride stinging from being reprimanded by her daughter.
Thalassa knew her mother’s strong-willed nature and did not push the matter further.
