Susan caught sight of him, allowing a polite smile to grace her lips.
Callum glanced at her and then at the bottle of red wine she was clutching, maintaining his usual half-smile. He nodded ever so slightly in her direction before sidestepping her and exiting the private booth.
Meanwhile, Susan made her way inside.
"Ms. Everhart, would you be a dear and pour Mr. Sinclair a glass..." Ethan, anticipating Thalassa, began his request with a chuckle, but as he turned, he was met with an unfamiliar face.
Ethan's smile faded, his eyes taking on a cool edge, "Who are you, and where is Ms. Everhart?"
He recognized the bottle of wine in the woman's hands; it was one from his private collection at the club.
With a gentle and kind smile, Susan replied, "I’m Susan. Ms. Everhart had to leave unexpectedly, and she asked me to step in and serve you gentlemen."
"Ms. Everhart left without a word to me?" Ethan was taken aback.
After scrutinizing Susan for a moment, realization dawned upon Ethan. He had seen this woman before at the Sinclair family charity ball, where she, alongside Charlotte, had framed Thalassa for stealing a bracelet, only to be tossed out of the event by Lysander.
And now she reappeared!
"Allow me to explain, I'm Ms. Everhart's sister. We had a minor misunderstanding, but we sorted things out today. As Thalassa had an urgent matter to attend to, she requested that I step in for her," Susan explained, sensing Ethan’s icy gaze. Realizing he might recognize her as the one who framed Thalassa, she cleverly justified her presence and subtly aligned her relationship with Thalassa.
A sisterly bond could hold no grudges overnight, could it?
Hearing this, Ethan took a deep breath and remained silent.
Thalassa's sister?
