Chapter 938
The scorching heat pressed against Thalassa’s back, sending a shiver down her spine. She steadied herself and clutched the little ones in her arms a bit tighter.
Doing her best to ignore the formidable presence behind her, Thalassa spoke with a softened voice, filled with tenderness, “Mommy had to join the boss for a networking dinner; that’s why I’m late tonight.”
“Mommy, is your boss also Daddy?” Dorian lifted his cherub face with those wide, innocent eyes.
Mentioning Lysander made Thalassa’s nerves involuntarily twitch. After a brief pause, she managed to say, “No, he’s Dylan Crawley’s uncle.”
“Dylan, the kid from my preschool?” Elowen showed interest, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.
“Yes, that’s him,” Thalassa confirmed.
“Oh, so Mommy works at Dylan’s uncle’s company?” Elowen tilted her little head in inquiry.
“That’s right,” said Thalassa as she stood up, hand in hand with the two children, walking towards the couch.
She casually slipped away from Lysander’s grasp on her back.
Although she kept her composure, her heart raced. She never dared to look back, afraid to lock eyes with Lysander’s deep.. penetrating gaze.
“Mommy, we had a robotics competition at preschool today, and I won first place,” Atticus announced, unable to hide his excitement on his cute little face.
He had won first place, and the first person he thought to share it with was his mom.
“Really? My Atticus is so amazing, a real computer whiz, Thalassa praised, lovingly ruffling his hair.
“Mommy, I also won the gourmet competition!” Elowen raised her hand, not wanting to be outdone, boasting about her own triumph.
“Yes, Elowen is amazing too,” Thalassa gently caressed her cheek.
“And me, I fixed so many antiques,” Sophia chimed in, her cheeks flushed.
“I’m going to be in a TV show,” Dorian added.
With a smile, Thalassa affectionately touched each of their heads, “Sophia and Dorian are also incredible. All four of my little darlings are geniuses.”
“Mommy, I want to sleep with you and Daddy tonight,” Elowen said with a sweet smile, dimples forming on her cheeks.
Thalassa was about to reply when the weight on the couch next to her shifted, and an intimidating presence loomed. She turned to see Lysander’s tall figure sitting beside her; his handsome face was tense, his deep eyes brooding. “Tonight, everyone sleeps in their own rooms.”
His voice brooked no argument.
Thalassa tensed up, knowing from his tone that he was not in a good mood, even without seeing his face.
The reason for not letting the children sleep with her became clearer when she recalled Lysander’s domineering kiss from earlier; it left her feeling even more uneasy.
