Usually, Jason would never dare sit down. However, he could not speak loudly 

now as there was something important he had to talk about. 

Thus, he shifted the other armchair over to Sean so that he would sit down 

right next to Sean. Then, he leaned over to whisper into Sean’s ear. 

“Mr. Sean, we finally have information on Madeline Summers.” 

Sean frowned and turned to look at Jason. “Why did it take so long?” 

“Heh…” 

Jason chuckled in embarrassment. “It’s easy enough to look into her once she’s in Silverton, but her past before coming here is a complete mystery. It’s like she popped out of nowhere. If I had not used every trick in the book, we could never have found anything.” 

Still, it seemed like they finally found something on Madeline. 

Madeline was certainly impressive enough to force them to use every trick the Vanderbilts had up their sleeves just to investigate her. 

Sean thought about how Claire vanished into thin air during the four years she was away from Silverton. She was just as slippery as her mother. 

He smirked as he stared at the intricate ashtray on the nearby end table. 

Nt had been a very long time since he last smoked. 

Jason licked his dry lips and softly said, “Madeline Summers was originally 

Winona Summers of Ascalon.”

He immediately painted a portrait of her when he arrived home. To this day, it still hung in his room. No one was allowed to touch it. 

Master and Madam Vanderbilt noticed Frederick’s infatuation, so they approached the Summers. Everything was going well, and the couple was aboɩ to get married when Winona suddenly vanished. 

Thus, the marriage was called off. After that day, Frederick burned every portrait he had ever painted except for the painting of Winona hanging in his room. He never fell in love again. 

Master and Madam Vanderbilt were worried at first. Frederick was an adult now, so he had to start his own family.

Jason suddenly gasped as his face turned pale. “It really is her.” 

Sean took a deep puff of smoke as he snorted. “Back then, everyone was panicking. We had all thought she died. Who knew she would have come all the way here and even changed her name to Madeline Summers?” 

What was even more unbelievable was the fact that Claire was Madeline’s 

daughter. 

What an absolute coincidence! 

Jason turned to look at Sean. Due to the smoke in the air, he could not clearly tell what Sean was feeling. Still, the emotions warring within Sean were surely greater than what Jason felt.
