“How about I show you what really happens between a man and a woman?” Cayden lifted up the helm of her dress.
His large hand stroked her skin at the same time his lips kissed her nape.
He took a waft of the scent in her hair.
Avery darted her gaze to a corner of the room. Her breathing started to quicken. “You won't let me go today, right?”
Cayden answered her with his actions.
Once he lifted her skin-tight dress, it revealed her smooth, fair skin. She's beautiful.
Goosebumps spread across her skin, and her rationale fought a fierce war against her desire when she felt the kisses he peppered across her back in a methodical and orderly way.
She had her eyes honed in on the paring knife on the shelf.
Even though the pleasure burned within her, she continued to keep the knife in her peripheral vision. She couldn't hold in the soft moans coming out of her mouth under his touch, and her body would move reflexively every now and then.
Slowly, she reached the front of the shelf.
Cayden continued kissing her smooth back, leaving his marks across the fair plain. Then, she heard the sound of his belt unbuckling.
When she felt him removing his belt, she looked over her shoulder to see him carelessly throw the belt onto the carpeted floor.
Finally, he pulled down his zipper, planning to drag her with him under the wave of pleasure.
“N-No,” she voiced. The refusal was clear in her body language as she struggled to reach for the paring knife urgently.
Cayden thrust forward meanly.
His hands were holding onto both sides of her waist in a steely grip as though he would snap her in half.
He was cock-blocked the last time he tried, and his current attempt was unsuccessful too. Within moments, he had unknowingly pushed her closer to the shelf.
As they continued to struggle, Cayden had his whole attention on the part that was hurting badly, so he didn't notice her stealthily reaching for the knife.
Avery's heart was racing with adrenaline. Her fingers trembled as she grasped the knife.
Just one thrust at him, and he'll finally understand my determination to leave him.
Her mind was once again at war with her conscience. When she felt her underwear slide off her foot and him leaning into her, she fought to turn around with all her might. Catching a window of opportunity, she stabbed the knife into his arm.
The sound of the knife cutting into flesh reverberated across the room.
She was so close that she couldn't ignore it even if she wanted to.
Avery's released the paring knife from her trembling hands and looked up at him with a panicked look in her eyes. She was horrified at the sight of blood seeping through the sleeve of his white shirt at a rapid rate.
Cayden grasped her chin with a stony expression. His jaw was clenching tightly. His ruthless eyes burned with a rage that he wanted so badly to unleash upon her but had to hold it in instead.
Avery was so scared that her entire body was shaking. Like a child who did something wrong, tears started falling uncontrollably from the corners of her eyes.
Cayden held onto her shaking hand and pressed it onto his crotch. “Why didn't you stab here instead? Could it be that you can't bear to do it because you remember how good it made you feel, and were thinking of using it again in the future?”
Her small face had a tinge of pink. She was so terrified after stabbing him that she was shaking like a leaf.
After Zachary woke up and got out of bed, the first thing he did was to search for Avery.
He searched through every room on the upper floor but still couldn't find her. When he descended the stairs, he saw his father sitting on the couch in the living room with a bandage on his left arm, and the doctor was packing up his things.
At this moment, Zachary couldn't care about finding Avery anymore and went up to his father, whom he gazed at with disdain in the morning. His eyes widened as he looked at the bandage on his father's arm. “Daddy, what happened?”
Cayden reclined on the couch lazily and shot an insidious look at Zachary.
“Where's Ms. Ery?” Zachary asked after seeing that his father was fine.
“She's off to marry someone else, and be another child's mother, so you should stop looking for her,” Cayden said coldly, got up, and strode toward the yard.
When I'm with Zachary, I'll always hear him asking about Ms. Ery.
Zachary was baffled by his father's response. He stood rooted in place, contemplating Cayden's words.
Off to marry someone else? Be another child's mother? No way!
“Daddy, wait for me!” Zachary immediately chased after Cayden in his slippers. He managed to catch up to Cayden at the garage and swiftly clung to his father's leg before Cayden could get in his car.
Cayden looked down at his son hanging on his leg.
Zachary looked up at his father and pleaded, “Please keep trying, Daddy. I want a mommy like Ms. Ery.”
“What's so good about her?” Cayden asked a question that had been troubling him. He wasn't only asking his son that question, he was really asking himself too.
Zachary started listing out seriously, “She's young, pretty, virtuous, gentle, good at taking care of the house, respectful toward elders, and patient with children. She has so many strengths. Oh, the pasta she makes is so much better than the ones prepared by others.”
Cayden opened the door to the driver's seat. “A lot of other women have the qualities you listed. As for the pasta, it has high carbs content. It'll affect your growth if you eat it often.”
“Daddy, you're showing such disdain toward Ms. Ery's cooking, but you're the one who always finishes her food every time,” Zachary complained.
The housekeeper told me that Ms. Ery would make a portion for Daddy too, and Daddy would never fail to clean his plate.
After returning to her house in a miserable state, Avery went to take a shower with the excuse of the hot weather.
She went grocery shopping after changing into more casual attire. When she returned, she prepared Blake's dinner and absent-mindedly went for a stroll with him after dinner.
Blake fell asleep shortly after they returned.
However, Avery couldn't sleep a wink. Her bedroom door was closed and the lights were off, shrouding the room in darkness.
She dug through her purse for the pack of cigarettes she left in there and lighted up a stick. She wasn't addicted to nicotine and merely felt that the irritation caused by the smoke on her airway would help to relieve the stuffiness she was feeling.
Coughing out the mouthful of smoke, Avery screwed her eyes shut and thought back on what happened that morning back at the Moore residence.
Before I stabbed him with the knife, his private part touched mine. With arousal came the risk of accidents. After all, both his part and mine discharged arousal fluid. Tears prickled her eyes as she wrapped her arms over her knees. She chewed on her lip to hold in her sobs.
I'll have to remember to buy the morning-after pill tomorrow. What's the matter with you, Avery? You knew you shouldn't, but your body still reacted to him. She admonished herself.
She endured the entire night with much exhaustion.
Avery couldn't even get her mood to brighten up on her way to work despite the thought of it being a payday.
At the office, Cecelia went into the pantry and said to Avery, who was making coffee. “We have a new colleague joining our department, Yvonne Gallagher. She said she knew you and arrogantly came to work late today.”
Avery didn't respond to her remark.
“Don't forget about the company event tonight. We're going in my car later.” Cecelia patted Avery's shoulder and smiled. I'm curious as to whether Boss will make his appearance.
Outside the pantry, Zayne accidentally eavesdropped on the conversation between Cecelia and Avery.
When he returned to his seat, he texted his friend: Same place and time as before. Come and play with my ex-girlfriend tonight. Don't change your mind at the last minute. Since you like innocent girls, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with her.
