However, Cayden did not wish to use the children to bind her to him.
However, Cayden did not wish to use the children to bind her to him.
He believed a romantic relationship should begin with marriage in mind. Furthermore, marriage should be forever until death parted them.
However, he found himself in a stalemate and could not figure out how to break this deadlock.
He began having feelings for Avery a long time ago. Before he had a chance to know her and confess his feelings, he had children with her.
Given her resistance, he could have announced their children's identity to force her to marry him.
Of course, whether that would work depended on how much she loved her children. Would she love them so much that she was willing to abandon her freedom and everything she had to stay by their side?
However, he would ruin the sanctity of marriage by doing that.
Avery's hatred for him would drown out all his love for her.
Furthermore, using the children to bind her would not result in love. She would only be staying for the sake of their children.
Therefore, he did not want to force her this way.
He wanted her to be with him willingly.
Cayden and Avery are stuck close together in the bedroom. Meanwhile, Zachary clung to Cayden's leg while Rory clung to Avery's leg. They looked like a loving family.
At the same time, three people walked up the stairs with hurried footsteps.
Talia climbed the stairs and said, “I have searched all over the house but couldn't find Cayden. Nigel said he saw Cayden going upstairs.”
Toby replied sternly, “So what if he went upstairs? What can he do?”
Xavier could not help but feel nervous as he followed behind them.
What happened in that two minutes caught him unprepared. Xavier listened to Cayden's aunt and uncle and still could not figure out the reasoning behind the incident.
Everyone in the Musk residence talked about Dylan bringing home a fair and slender woman in plain clothes. Some said she was beautiful. Furthermore, she was unconscious, and a doctor came to give her a drip.
That woman was undoubtedly Avery.
However, Xavier had always thought Avery was the woman Cayden loved.
Boss brought Avery to the Moore residence before. His family and children have accepted her. They seem to be getting along fine. So, why has Avery suddenly turned into Dylan's love interest? Could it be that there is some misunderstanding, or perhaps Avery is up to something?
Xavier kept pondering about it but still could not figure it out. Therefore, he followed Cayden's aunt and uncle upstairs, worrying that they would get into a fight with Cayden.
Meanwhile, Dylan entered the living room from the courtyard and asked his uncle who sat nearby. “Where are my parents?”
His uncle answered, “Upstairs. They all went upstairs.”
Thus, Dylan went upstairs and heard his mother's voice as he came to the second floor. “Cayden, let me be clear with you. Everyone is born equal. Ery is beautiful and docile, and I like her very much. Thus, I hope you will refrain from pressuring her. Otherwise, I have no choice but to ask my future daughter-in-law to resign from your company.”
Dylan walked into the bedroom after hearing that, prompting everyone to turn and look at him.
“Bring the children outside,” Cayden instructed Xavier.
Xavier nodded and quickly led the confused children downstairs.
Then, Cayden looked at Dylan intimidatingly.
Avery grabbed her bag and decided to leave. As she walked past Dylan's mother, she said, “You've misunderstood. There is nothing between your son and me.”
Talia frowned and quickly pushed Dylan who was standing still in the doorway. “Why are you still standing here? Go after her!”
Thus, Dylan turned around and dashed downstairs.
Then, Talia nudged Toby, signaling him to say something.
Toby stood at the doorway and turned to Cayden, who remained in the bedroom. “Cayden, your generation has better exposure to culture and is more open-minded than us elders. Thus, don't stand in the way of Ery and Dylan's relationship. They are free to love each other. You should also abandon the outdated thinking about a couple needing to have equal social standings to be together.”
“That's right!” Talia nodded in agreement. “Cayden, Ery did not ask to be born into an ordinary family, nor did she wish to only work as a junior designer after all her studies. After all, no one can choose their family. Moreover, Dylan had behavioral problems and went to prison before, so we are not sure whether he can be a good husband. Therefore, you must not think that Ery is unworthy of Dylan.”
“Also, I asked Dylan. It is him who is pursuing Ery.” Toby made up a random explanation, fearing that Cayden would think Avery had seduced Dylan.
Cayden turned around and faced Toby and Talia. “I never said Ery is unworthy of Dylan.”
“Then...” Talia was stunned. “Does this mean you think Dylan is unworthy of Ery?”
Cayden's expression darkened at her answer.
Talia knew her son's character and could not defend him. Therefore, she raised her hand and promised, “I guarantee with my life that Ery will never suffer mistreatment if she marries into the Musk family!”
Cayden felt it was useless continuing to argue with them. Thus, he raised his hand to stop the conversation and rushed downstairs.
Meanwhile, Yvonne was shocked to see Avery in the courtyard.
Then, she saw Dylan rushing into the courtyard to chase after Avery.
What the heck? Why does Dylan look so nervous? Could it be that Dylan has also fallen for Avery? How deep has he fallen for her? Does he want to marry her, or does he see her like how he saw other women as discardable playthings in the past?
As Cayden was driving away, he saw Dylan walking toward the house alone. It seemed he had failed to make Avery stay.
Dylan looked at Cayden in the driver's seat and smirked. “I didn't plan for this misunderstanding, but they all think she is my girlfriend, so you can't expect me to explain to everyone. Furthermore, you have broken up with her. I found her fainted on the streets, so I brought her back out of kindness.”
Cayden glared daggers at Dylan. He stepped on the accelerator and sped away from the Musk residence.
Dylan watched Cayden drive away. Suddenly, he felt a hand tapping his shoulder, prompting him to turn around. It was Yvonne who was holding a glass of wine.
“Dylan, are you interested in Ery?” Yvonne asked and pursed her lips.
Dylan could not explain how he felt and recalled the numerous women he had in the past before glancing at the nineteen-year-old Yvonne before him. He could see nothing attractive, youthful, or tender about Yvonne. Thus, he nodded indifferently. “I am interested. She is more interesting than any woman I've met.”
Yvonne was dissatisfied with his high praise for Avery. “Men always yearn for what they could not have. I knew men like you too well. Dylan, are you going to marry her?”
Dylan was suspicious of Yvonne. “What are you planning? Are you trying to get rid of Cayden's ex before marrying him?”
“You only have to tell me whether you wish to marry this Ery. If you do, I have a plan.” Yvonne was impatient to get rid of Avery from her life.
It doesn't matter who Avery marries. Of course, it will be best for me if she marries Dylan. Once she is married, Cayden is all mine.
