The atmosphere was quite chaotic, presumably because the owner of the company was present. Having noticed that the surrounding employees of Trident Group kept looking her way, Nicole was worried that she would be recognized among the crowd if she lingered for too long. Disregarding the environment she was in, Nicole promptly turned around to leave.
When Nicole returned to Dylan's Porsche Cayenne, she frowned slightly.
Milana and Nicole were not well acquainted. To top it off, Nicole was a top celebrity, whereas Milana did not have the prestige to match. This was why Milana always kept her distance from the woman. She was unsure of how to approach Nicole.
On the other hand, Nicole rarely thought of Milana, considering the latter to be nothing but air.
As for Cayden, Nicole had already heard about him from the start.
As one of the most famous socialites in Ackleton, coupled with her stardom, Nicole effectively held a high-profile status that was the envy of many women.
All her close friends used to quiz her about what kind of man she would eventually marry.
Nicole admitted that she did have a suitable candidate in mind, but of course, nobody could truly predict the future.
That being said, if she had a goal in mind, she would undoubtedly strive hard to reach it, on the condition that her goal was worth all her efforts.
Nicole's father, William, was also of high status, so it was only natural that he had high standards for the man Nicole was to marry. Although her father's preferred suitors were his favored subordinates, who had only one path to follow—becoming government officials, she did not see any downsides to it.
In fact, the better he performed at work, the better her reputation as his wife.
However, Nicole's foray into the entertainment industry resulted in a change in her mindset.
Men who could make waves in the field of business were far more attractive to Nicole than her father's favored subordinates.
After all, Nicole was very much an ordinary woman who was attracted to mature, charismatic men. She liked to imagine what their sexy, chiseled bodies looked like under their suits and gaze into their deep, unfathomable eyes, trying to pick apart what lay in their hearts.
For this reason, Cayden Moore was the perfect candidate who ticked all the boxes Nicole had.
The social circle in Ackleton was not very big. Any man who proved to be outstanding would be the talk of all single women during their gossip-filled meetings.
It wasn't that nobody suggested introducing Nicole to Cayden, but she later found out that he had two children.
While the outside world had no idea about that, rumors had been circulating within the social circles to an extent. That being said, it was not a rare thing among the rich and powerful for young men to already have children with other women.
I'm still young, though. Cayden might be my dream guy, but I'm certainly not going to be the stepmother to another woman's children. It's not just one child but two of them!
Just thinking about this made Nicole quite uncomfortable.
However, Nicole also admitted that it didn't take more than ten minutes for her to be attracted to Cayden's charm after seeing him in person today.
Subconsciously, images of Cayden's stalwart and tall figure flooded her mind before her thoughts lingered on the calmness in his gaze.
If Cayden shared a drink with his cousin's wife and sipped at the same spot where her lipstick had touched, what could it mean? It's definitely an indirect kiss, and he did this in front of her husband, Dylan.
Nicole did not think that Cayden had done that unintentionally.
After coming to town, Nicole felt that she had gained a lot, but something was missing from her heart at the same time.
She was well aware of what the missing piece was.
On the way back to the city, Dylan smoked quite heavily. Even his brows were knitted in a perpetual frown. Nicole sat in the backseat on their way there, but on the trip back, she requested to sit in the passenger seat to keep an eye on Dylan's reaction.
As she took note of Dylan's dark expression, Nicole began to speculate about the relationship the cousins had with Avery.
When they reached Ackleton, Nicole returned home and went into her room listlessly. After a shower, she put on her pajamas and flicked through the script for her shoot the next day.
As she went through her lines, her mind unwittingly drifted toward thoughts of Cayden's stern yet handsome features.
Putting down the script, Nicole took a few deep breaths before gradually calming down.
Meanwhile, Milana followed Dylan back to the room above the bar.
This particular street only came alive at night, especially around midnight. However, it was so quiet at that moment that one could easily hear the birds chirping on the nearby trees.
Dylan opened the window to let in some air. He then turned around to unbutton his shirt before unceremoniously pinning Milana onto the bed.
Milana gasped in surprise, only to notice a slight chill on her thighs.
It turned out that her pants had been removed.
With her milky-white leg exposed under the moonlight, the autumn breeze blew on her skin, making her shudder slightly from the cold. The thin white curtains fluttered in the wind and grazed her skin gently, brushing over her cheeks, lips, and face.
“Oh! The door! It's not closed...” moaned Milana, pretending to be shy.
Milana was quite an experienced lover, knowing what made men tick.
A sensual atmosphere was concocted from a combination of her gestures, tone of voice, and slender body.
However, when Dylan was about to pounce on her, he realized that he was not responding to her ministrations. D*mn it. Why am I not responding?
Milana did her best to woo him while pulling out all the stops. However, she was unable to get a response from him.
While she tried her best to seduce Dylan and stole glances at his expression, she realized that she might not have been attractive enough.
Or perhaps he had already had his fill?
On the news, it was revealed that Nicole and Dylan were together the night before.
Milana knew that while she needed to stick around Nicole, her main target was Dylan instead. After all, her fate depended on whether Dylan reached an emotional turning point.
Hence, his satisfaction was the most important thing.
Milana had no reservations about self-respect. After all, she was used to doing this. Right then, she stood up seductively to kneel before Dylan and clutched his hand, murmuring, “Let me... I'll help you...”
After a long day's work in town, it was almost dusk.
Avery seemed very preoccupied with something. While she had no intention of getting involved in the dispute, trouble always ended up coming back to her instead.
This made her realize a simple truth—one could not escape fate.
The very notion of deciding one's own fate was something people said to make themselves feel better.
Meanwhile, two children filed into a black Bentley and sat down. A man shut the door before turning around to look at Avery, who currently had her nose in a notebook. “The kids want to watch a children's movie at eight. Would you like to come along?”
Avery did have the urge to go, but something was holding her back.
“Get inside.” Cayden reached out to hold Avery's hand.
When Cayden's hand was about to touch hers, Avery recoiled in fear. She looked around and pretended to be distant in view of her colleagues before replying, “I'll pass. There will be other opportunities for me to join them. Do keep them company.”
Avery was quite sad at not being able to express her maternal love for her children.
“What are you worried about?” Cayden threw his suit jacket into the car window and strode over, tugging his tie loose. He then gave her a condescending look and asked, “Are you worried that you'll be photographed with me and end up in the news?”
